It’s wild-just everything. In a rural community so many of my colleagues don’t stay up to date with the news. I acknowledge that it’s easier to lean into my privilege of not having to worry every day. But to hear students tease each other about calling ICE…
It’s wild. It breaks my heart.

Today is conference day! When I shared my schedule with my husband, we realized I have reached the apex of nerdiness #iTeachMath #SpEd #EduSky #UCTM2025

They have to talk or write about it in full sentences and had to choose at least 10 of the 20 problems I provided. I gave them a rubric and we’ve done this whole group in past units, so they are familiar with the process. 2/2

We call it “Find It, Fix It.” I screenshot or recreate common errors. I then ask students to find the mistake and explain how to get the right answer. This time instead of whole group, I paired them up. They have to submit individually (video, audio, or written). 1/2

Created a group project for students to perform error analysis on common mistakes with mappings and domain and range, and they killed it. They jumped into it and I had 100% participation. I love when students surprise you and you can integrate critical thinking activities. #iTeachMath #SpEd #EduSky

Literally goosebumps from my students after hearing “oh, that’s all!?” and “so we’re doing this …[precise description]?” We just finished such a tough unit, that feeling of a less challenging one is refreshing. #iTeachMath #SpEd

Going into the break, I was a little bummed that we didn’t have the full two weeks. But..tbh having these last two days to ease back into normalcy was nice! #iTeachMath #SpEd

Now entering the portion of the night that is the worst — can’t sleep but can’t finish wrapping without drawing suspicion. Yes, I lie to my kids. But my 3-year-old is low-key freaked out about a grown man sneaking into our house. Made an audible and we’re no longer hyping that up 😳😂 #GirlMom

Today was the end of my first trimester teaching 9th sped math. 😅 (I did elementary resource before)

Things I’ve learned: 1) most 9th grade boys touch each other constantly;
2) most 9th grade girls have impressive braiding abilities; and 3) (most surprisingly) I truly love these students!

Introduced my students to polypad today (albeit briefly), and they seemed to enjoy. I’m excited to integrate it further!

We had such a good chat tonight. Love conversing with fellow educators 🥰

Takeaway tonight: increasing awareness of the beauty of mathematics increases the *appreciation* of mathematics
