There is No Scientific Justification to Revoke the Endangerment Finding The U.S. EPA's decision to repeal the Endangerment Finding will limit the government's ability to regulate emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases under the Clean Air Act.

As I say here, there is no scientific justification to revoke the engagement finding. In fact, over the last 15+ yrs, the evidence of how climate change affects our health has only grown. Higher risk of allergies, dementia, fertility, heart disease, and death: that’s what’s on the line. @nature.org

Toughen Up. Open Your Heart. A reflection on love, fear, and what it really means to be strong in a time of cruelty.

I’ve been thinking lately about what it means to stay open-hearted in a world that makes it so hard.

What makes a country great in the 21st century is science, and it’s really insane to purposefully destroy its science enterprise.

Reject overbroad IODA obscenity act, protect free speech and LGBTQ+ rights Text SIGN PQPNNP to 50409 β€” The Interstate Obscenity Definition Act (IODA) from Senator Mike Lee represents a severe threat to free speech and LGBTQ+ rights in the United States. By redefining obscenity in an overly broad manner, this legislation could criminalize any depiction or discussion of sexual activity, undermining artistic expression and access to vital information about sexuality and gender. Furthermore, the IODA aligns disturbingly with the discriminatory goals outlined in the Heritage Foundation's Project 2025 policy blueprint, which explicitly seeks to outlaw "the omnipresent propagation of transgender ideology" under the guise of combating pornography. Enabling such blatant transphobia through legislation is utterly unacceptable. This misguided bill poses a grave danger to the LGBTQ+ community as well as anyone seeking to engage in legal free expression regarding human sexuality. Congress must firmly reject the IODA and any effort to enshrine bigotry into law under false pretenses. Protecting marginalized groups and upholding fundamental rights must take precedence over the discriminatory agenda fueling this damaging proposal.

Yeah. I can’t believe I ever subscribed to NYT (many years ago).

In recent years, they have been one of the worst outlets of β€œpolite” transphobia and absolutely garbage misinformation on the topic. Harmful stuff.

Have you ever looked at a weather map online? Or seen a nice visualization of weather forecast model output? If so, NSF Unidata almost certainly made that possible in one way or another.

Modern meteorological education would not be possible without the data, tools, and resources they provide.

It’s true - our ability to protect the drinking water supply from the Great Lakes has been severely compromised.

Trump/DOGE randomly fired people who helped keep the drinking water safe. They slowed our funding to a trickle, harming our ability to deploy buoys for water quality.

Remember: NOAA is not its social media accounts. Do not let the takeover of NOAA communications take away your support of the real NOAA and the very real scientists behind it. The administration would want nothing more than for us to stop supporting our science agencies πŸ§ͺ

NOAA workers report 'intentional chaos' during personnel cuts Some of the former government employees who were fired, rehired and fired again said they're owed pay and their health plans have been frozen.

Some workers at NOAA who were fired in February, rehired in March and then fired for a second time in April, say the agency has missed some salary payments during that period, and failed to have their health insurance plans restored or provide basic paperwork.

NWS just announced a major reduction in upper-air (weather balloon) observations due to staffing shortages.

Omaha and Rapid City losing balloon launches altogether, with launches cut in half at 6 other sites.

Losing this many launches could affect severe weather forecasting and computer models.
