What happened in Diss last night was wrong. Groups from outside our community came here to create fear and division. That is not who we are. Diss is a town rooted in compassion and decency. We have a long and proud history of offering sanctuary to those fleeing persecution. People have a right to seek asylum in our country, and they deserve to be treated with dignity and respect, as we would wish to be treated in times of crisis. We have had an asylum hotel in Diss for two years without any issues. The families staying there have become part of the local community, with many of their children attending local schools. However, late last week we were informed that these families would be told to leave the hotel at short notice. I am frustrated by the lack of communication from the Home Office to the families and to me as constituency MP, and I have raised my concerns with the Minister. We must reject division and focus on what unites us. I will keep raising questions with the Home Office and work with the town and district councils and local community groups to ensure everyone is treated with respect. Together, we will welcome new arrivals and show what I know Diss to be: a compassionate and inclusive town that helps everyone feel part of our community.

Diss is a town rooted in compassion and decency.

This month we've seen more heatwaves.

Temperatures will keep rising unless we stop burning oil and gas.

The government can't claim to care about our future while backing new fossil fuel projects. That is why @UKLabour must stop new oil & gas extraction, starting with Rosebank.

Labour ought to combine this with a move to a fair voting system where every vote counts equally.

16 and 17-year-olds to be able to vote in next general election - live updates Lowering the voting age across the UK means around 1.5 million 16 and 17-year-olds will be able to vote at the next general election.

I'm so pleased to see this. I got into politics at 16 & joined the @greenparty.org.uk, campaigning before I could vote.

I've long called for votes at 16 because young people need to have a say on the future of our country and the world.

250,000 children were pushed into poverty because of the 2-child benefit cap.

I plead with Labour MPs to do the right thing, follow on from Kinnock & Drakeford and back a wealth tax for the super-rich so we can fund support for the most vulnerable.

Dear Keir - following #PMQs today, a reminder of the letter we you sent last week after you repeated false claims about the Green Party's manifesto. Unlike Labour and the Conservatives we were honest about the need to raise taxes on the wealthiest to fund the services we all need.
