It was wonderful to see the orchard thriving thanks to fantastic work by the parish council, supported by Green Councillor Catherine Rowett who helped them secure funding for the bug hotel.

After a fantastic assembly at Burston Primary School, where I answered lots of questions about what it is like being an MP and representing our area, it was great to spend time with the boys and girls as they showed me their new bug hotel in the community orchard.

Making it universal means every young person can access opportunities, no matter where they live or what their background is.

Young people deserve affordable ways to get to college, work and training, in both rural & urban areas.

Free bus travel for under-22s removes cost as a barrier and helps tackle isolation.

Floods are becoming more frequent.

Clydach Terrace was flooded during Storms Dennis & Bert.

Now 16 homes will be demolished because defences were not built in time.

Successive Govts have not invested in preparing for climate change.

Climate inaction has real consequences.

I, along with other cross-party MPs and a coalition of civil society organisations, have sent a letter to the UK Govt, urging it not to renew TotalEnergies’ public-sector gas contract in 2026.

Public procurement must align with our values. The Govt must end its contract with TotalEnergies.

When people are dying and freezing in Ukraine, allies cannot stand by while companies fund war.

TotalEnergies continues to import Russian gas and holds stakes in Russia’s strategic energy projects, supporting aggression against Ukraine.

Great to be in Stowupland recently for my surgery, followed by a meeting with Green Councillors Keith Welham and Janet Pearson and then knocking on doors to discuss the issues that matter to you in Stowupland.

It was also great to be shown around the SHIP, their new classrooms supporting children with SEND needs, helping them get the support they need while also being in the heart of our community in Roydon School.

This week Roydon Primary School warmly welcomed me into their assembly. I am always impressed by the thoughtful questions from pupils, from what it is like being an MP to the challenges around flooding.

I support the ban on boiling animals alive. There is no reason for such cruelty. I was glad to see it included in the Animal Welfare Strategy. Now we need the Government to publish a clear roadmap and timelines for this ban to protect lobsters and other crustaceans.

Green-led Mid Suffolk District Council is calling on groups to apply for their new Community Nature Recovery Grant. The Council is offering up to £50,000 for projects that protect and expand wildlife corridors and habitats, including tree planting and the creation of wildflower meadows.

Diss Amnesty has week in, week out held a vigil for the people of Gaza, making sure we remember the ongoing dire humanitarian crisis. I was pleased to join them against last Saturday and talk about how I am pressing our Government to do more, including on access to aid and healthcare

A strategy is only as good as its delivery. I welcome the Animal Welfare Strategy, but it lacks clear timescales for action.

It also leaves major omissions, including imports of fur and trophy hunting.

The Govt must ensure this strategy delivers real, lasting change for animals
