Any move to further reduce support allowances for carers is a bad one, and shows how backwards Labor’s priorities are.

Labor needs to properly fund foster carers so that they can continue to support the thousands of Victorian kids in need of out-of-home care.

Foster carers are already stretched thin – chronically under-resourced and often have to dig into their own pockets to provide for their kids.

This is deeply concerning.

Cuts to health, cuts to education, and now cuts to foster care – this is not what looking after our kids looks like.

We can’t get complacent. We must keep showing up and raising our voices for Palestine, holding this government to account until freedom, self-determination, and justice is achieved.

But the Israeli government has violated ceasefires before. Even now, hours after the agreement has been signed, they are still bombing Gaza City.

Australia must do everything in its power to hold Israel and the US to this agreement, and ensure peace is sustained.

News that a ceasefire agreement in Gaza has been signed is welcome.

For the sake of the survivors on the ground, who have been through years of horrific genocide campaign, I pray this is the end of their nightmare.

By allowing Australian weapons to be used, this government is complicit.

There is no neutrality in genocide.

This must be the turning point.

Housing is a human right, and right now, the Victorian Parliament is debating the Greens' bill to make it law.

Recognition of Palestine should have happened decades ago and is a fundamental right that the Australian Government has denied for too long.

Enough food exists, but Israel blocks aid, and slaughters civilians seeking scraps.

This is deliberate mass starvation. A crime against humanity. An act of genocide.

If Labor won’t be honest with Victorian families about what’s going on, how are we meant to fix it?

Of all the moments to follow the rules and do the right thing - this should be it.

We really thought this time, given the scale of what’s happening in our childcare system, that Labor would put politics aside and choose transparency for every family that’s living their worst nightmare right now.

Our motion was respectfully worded with sensitivity to children’s privacy and limited in scope to only capture what was needed to see the full picture of what’s happening in our childcare sector.

The exact same documents were released in NSW, so there's no reason that Labor can’t do the same here.

The fact the Premier is lashing at the Greens to try and take the heat off herself just proves that Labor is more focussed on the politics and damage control than children’s safety.

Parents in Victoria are going through hell right now and to hear the Premier say she won’t apologise for breaking Parliamentary rules and failing to release documents about their children’s safety is shameful.

We need:

✅ An independent childcare safety watchdog with real power to crack down on rogue centres.

✅ Full transparency from the state government on the scale of the childcare crisis – including the release of key documents by July 18th about neglect and abuse, which the Greens have called for.

Private childcare has become a money-making machine, prioritising profit over caring for children.

Shocking abuse, like what was revealed last week, doesn’t happen in a vacuum. It’s a product of a sector that cuts corners, breaches staffing ratios & neglects child safety for the sake of corporate 💰
