Any move to further reduce support allowances for carers is a bad one, and shows how backwards Labor’s priorities are.

Labor needs to properly fund foster carers so that they can continue to support the thousands of Victorian kids in need of out-of-home care.

Foster carers are already stretched thin – chronically under-resourced and often have to dig into their own pockets to provide for their kids.

Foster carers for high-needs children have support slashed by $100 a day Carers have reported that their state government cost allowances have been cut by three-quarters without explanation.

This is deeply concerning.

Cuts to health, cuts to education, and now cuts to foster care – this is not what looking after our kids looks like.

Man dies at Merri train station after being handcuffed by PSOs The 63-year-old man appeared β€œsubstance affected”, police say, and lost consciousness on Friday night.

Another unacceptable, totally preventable death in custody.

Substance abuse and mental health episodes should be met with a care-first public health response, not punitive policing that escalates and ends in tragedy.

Being in distress should not be a death sentence.

We can’t get complacent. We must keep showing up and raising our voices for Palestine, holding this government to account until freedom, self-determination, and justice is achieved.

There’s a Nationwide March for Gaza in Naarm this Sunday. Free Palestine

But the Israeli government has violated ceasefires before. Even now, hours after the agreement has been signed, they are still bombing Gaza City.

Australia must do everything in its power to hold Israel and the US to this agreement, and ensure peace is sustained.

News that a ceasefire agreement in Gaza has been signed is welcome.

For the sake of the survivors on the ground, who have been through years of horrific genocide campaign, I pray this is the end of their nightmare.

By allowing Australian weapons to be used, this government is complicit.

There is no neutrality in genocide.

This must be the turning point.

The UN has confirmed Israel is committing genocide in Gaza.
The Albanese and Allan Government must act now - stop the siege, end the two-way arms trade, and sanction Israel. Australia has a legal duty under the Genocide Convention.

Childcare worker speaks out after being accused of abusing toddlers A Goodstart worker who allegedly abused toddlers at a Ballarat centre speaks out for the first time and says he is appealing after being banned from working with children.

Right now, the system is failing to notify, respond, and protect children.

Victorian children deserve a safeguarding system that leaves no room for predatory behaviour to take hold.

Now more than ever, we must ensure that our child safe frameworks and systems are not only vigilant in identifying risks, but also prompt and effective in taking decisive action.

Thousands of Victorian parents and families have been left devastated by a system where regulation and compliance failed to protect Victorian children.

Our Select Committee inquiry will take a detailed look at what’s happening in the early childhood education and care sector.

To our multicultural and First Nations communities: you are not alone. Our strength is in our diversity and solidarity.

To the Premier: the time for empty words is over. You must act NOW to protect our communities and tackle the inequality that allows this hatred to fester.

This government has failed.

For 3 years, it has ignored the clear roadmap from the 2022 Inquiry into Extremism, which included funding to challenge radical beliefs, anti-racism education, and action to stamp out white supremacist groups.

Yesterday’s violence is the result of their inaction.

01.09.2025 06:50 β€” πŸ‘ 6    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

The white supremacist violence we saw in Melbourne yesterday was disgraceful.

Far-right extremists marched with racist, anti-immigrant, and anti-Indigenous hatred before attacking First Nations people at Camp Sovereignty.

Nazis have no place here. Our full solidarity is with those targeted.

Watch - Parliament of Victoria

Everyone deserves a safe and affordable home. Adding the right to housing to the Victorian Charter of Human Rights would mean that affordability, accessibility and adequacy of housing will be central to future government decisions.

Housing is a human right, and right now, the Victorian Parliament is debating the Greens' bill to make it law.

Protest works.

Thank you to the thousands that organised, turned up and raised your voice to say no to war profiteering in our state.

Recognition of Palestine should have happened decades ago and is a fundamental right that the Australian Government has denied for too long.

Now we need action: Australia must sanction Israel & end the two-way arms trade.

Recognition won’t feed starving kids or stop the bombs.

11.08.2025 04:08 β€” πŸ‘ 291    πŸ” 104    πŸ’¬ 9    πŸ“Œ 3

We need the strongest possible action from our state and federal governments, not just words.

End the siege.
Stop the two-way arms trade.
Sanction Israel now.

The Israeli Government is starving Gaza.

Over 111 dead, and counting.
Children & elderly starving at record rates.

Enough food exists, but Israel blocks aid, and slaughters civilians seeking scraps.

This is deliberate mass starvation. A crime against humanity. An act of genocide.

If Labor won’t be honest with Victorian families about what’s going on, how are we meant to fix it?

Of all the moments to follow the rules and do the right thing - this should be it.

22.07.2025 06:49 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

We really thought this time, given the scale of what’s happening in our childcare system, that Labor would put politics aside and choose transparency for every family that’s living their worst nightmare right now.

22.07.2025 06:49 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Our motion was respectfully worded with sensitivity to children’s privacy and limited in scope to only capture what was needed to see the full picture of what’s happening in our childcare sector.

The exact same documents were released in NSW, so there's no reason that Labor can’t do the same here.

22.07.2025 06:49 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

The fact the Premier is lashing at the Greens to try and take the heat off herself just proves that Labor is more focussed on the politics and damage control than children’s safety.

News headline with image of Jacinta Allan: Jacinta Allan refuses to apologise for missing childcare safety document release deadline

Parents in Victoria are going through hell right now and to hear the Premier say she won’t apologise for breaking Parliamentary rules and failing to release documents about their children’s safety is shameful.

We need:

βœ… An independent childcare safety watchdog with real power to crack down on rogue centres.

βœ… Full transparency from the state government on the scale of the childcare crisis – including the release of key documents by July 18th about neglect and abuse, which the Greens have called for.

Private childcare has become a money-making machine, prioritising profit over caring for children.

Shocking abuse, like what was revealed last week, doesn’t happen in a vacuum. It’s a product of a sector that cuts corners, breaches staffing ratios & neglects child safety for the sake of corporate πŸ’°
