Forming the research plan, and extracting trees Jordy showcased a new feature for tree extraction in TPOs, while Gavin presented georeferencing tech improvements. Rob outlined our research roadmap, and the team planned key features for testing.

Sitting in these was a link to the latest on using AI to extract data from documents: digital-land.github.io/extract-alph...

The Right Environment: Weeknotes S21E06 It’s sociotechnical systems all the way down. Plus good films I watched.

Lunchtime reading via my #weeknotes from last week. Seen a couple good films and some art. Really enjoyed @ripplesbristol.bsky.social l last week and hanging out with @jukes.ie, @ewebber.bsky.social and others!

you should blast a roasting meat as hot as possible for 30 minutes then turn it right down to 150Β°c for the remainder of the cooking time (unless it’s a small joint).

I’d always wondered why no one had ever published a full, detailed map of the 1960s plan to turn London into a giant web of US-style urban motorways…. It turns even the politicians and designers didn’t make one at the time. It just didn’t exist. Until now.

Are bubbles good, actually? On Jeff Bezos’s defence of AI mania

β€œFunding the railways through a bubble, rather than through central planning (as was the case in much of Europe), left Britain with a very inefficiently designed rail network,” says Quinn. β€œThat’s caused problems right up to the present day.” on.ft.com/3XcKd3M

So what’s happening is MacWhisper makes a local API call to LM Studio and it 504s. But it’s taking 10 or 15 minutes to get to that point and ain’t nobody got time for that etc.

That’s why I’m thinking of getting an M5, it’s not the context length of the model but how much my computer can handle. And it feels like the transcript from a 2-hour meeting is the top limit, so won’t need to upgrade for aaaaaaages!

05.11.2025 12:38 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Yeah, I should look into that really. The transcript goes into the prompt to be summarised, but maybe there’s another way.

Ha, would be nice but not an option right now! We’re doing work in a novel space with lots of unknowns, it needs us to go deep!
