lmao maybe! their handle indicated they live elsewhere so my guess is they just think all MN = northern MN.

cornfields and Trump flags - listen, that's southern MN. i admit i haven't driven as much through truly northern MN outside of Duluth, but central MN (and central/slightly northern WI) have been declining in Trump flags since 2020 and more importantly that's just not where the cornfields are!!

i decided not to wade into discourse on the skeets of people i do not know but i will be thinking all day about the person who said northern MN is "all cornfields." BUDDY, i do not believe you were in the northern part of the state!!

i listened to serena terry’s β€œsecret life of an uncool mom” bc i like her mammy banter skits. at first i was not sure i liked it for anything more than the derry accent but it did make me cry and overall i think it was enjoyable in like a beach read category, best experienced on audiobook for sure.

COVID Isn’t Going Anywhere. Masking Up Could Save My Life. "When I am in public spaces and see most people unmasked, I feel like an expendable burden not worth saving."

Respect Alice Wong’s call here:
β€œWhen I am in public spaces and see most people unmasked either because they think the virus is a hoax, that masking is virtue signaling & a sign of weakness, aren't thinking about it, or that they simply don’t care, I feel like an expendable burden not worth saving.”

Just an incalculable loss from which we won’t soon recover.

Alice was the best of us and I hope we all do (or keep doing) the kind of good work that burnishes her memory.

Fuck ableism. β€œDon’t let the bastards grind you down.”

it’s not new but it’s always so aggravating when i have literally stepped off the curb so there can be no doubt i am trying to cross and so many cars don’t even try to stop

i have a running vest that lights me up like a christmas tree and not only did many cars not stop for me edging into a crosswalk the first asshole SPED UP. not even stayed constant because he was too close to stop (he might have been) but made little engine rev noises as if blowing a raspberry

a lot of these reveal the failure to understand AI doesn’t know anything, it *puts together word patterns based on the patterns it’s been taught.* a surprise racism is probably because of training materials, not that you missed a dog whistle in your writing (ouch for the one about child abuse 😒)

there’s a link to the fanfic on AO3, with fic carefully curated by authors who only have a story (or 2) for 831. one brave soul whose portfolio otherwise includes tags like nonconsensual drug use, cannibalism, and body horror, has invaded with essentially a shitpost story. ketonebodies is my hero.

when i first saw the vance clip earlier it was a quote skeet that called it out as nazi rhetoric and i said oh yup that checks out, of course it does, but i didn’t expect something this…banal? this pop cultural? i put animal stickers on envelopes to my niece and nephew. this is…wow i hate history*

Masking helps stop disabled people like me dying, being excluded from society, and avoids passing on this kind of preventable illness. But if that’s not worth the tradeoff for you, consider protecting yourself. Just think about if you really need your face uncovered while sat silently on a train

13.11.2025 13:07 β€” πŸ‘ 127    πŸ” 31    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I get why a lot of non-disabled people want to pretend respiratory illnesses don’t exist, but as we’re coming up on another event I can’t safely attend, I encourage you to just THINK about wearing a mask at events - or at least on the train/ plane there, where there’s probably no reason not to

Haven’t done anything for Mpls in awhile so I don’t know the answer but do contractors doing business with them feel that same way? Or do they understand it won’t matter at all? 🀨

Working on a pursuit right now with a municipal client in another state. The project would use federal funds so we’re limited in how we can talk about equity, but we KNOW this city still values diverse businesses and they will prefer a project team that includes minority-owned firms.

14.11.2025 01:40 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

on top of that, in engineering I see a lot of firms that are women-owned as a gloss - white male run, led, and dominated, but a guy’s wife β€œowns” the company. (Not something that’s been noticeable to me when working with MBE firms). Stats that go beyond ownership would be very helpful.

14.11.2025 01:37 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

The city needs to do better because this is just going to get worse with the discriminatory changes being made to federal procurement. 7% to BIPOC- and women-owned is absurd, most contracting goals are larger than that so either the city is behind the curve or it’s too lax with exemptions…

I’m so happy that the murals at the Hiawatha Lake Underpass have been completed. This project was a partnership with the city, Minnesota Department of Transportation, community organizations, and neighbors. This brings so much life to our beautiful East Lake Street corridor. 1/
