Livestream shopping stars face off against trolls, hagglers, and AI rivals Livestream sellers have built booming careers. Now, bots are threatening to steal their spotlight and their customers.

Another great read. I don't think everyone understands that a lot of the Internet is this QVC like selling. restofworld.org/2025/indones...

Lol. It is more like, we have access to the lottery, but the prices are OUTRAGEOUS. Is it ethical to engage with this evil org? Ugh.

Basically every high school kid in Seattle walked out to protest down at the central district school office, protesting 2 lunches instead of 1. The district listened and stopped 2 lunches. These kids are so proud and so am I. (Also SPS has a civic engagement excused absence!)

Advancing our understanding of the associations between social media use and well-being

Any suggestions for a more recent update that is VERY accessible, that is an umbrella review of studies related to social media and well-being? Basically a 2025 version of this: www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...
Again, VERY VERY VERY accessible.

Your Phone Isn't Listening, Here's What's Actually Happening
YouTube video by Taylor Lorenz Your Phone Isn't Listening, Here's What's Actually Happening

Great video essay from @taylorlorenz.bsky.social on surveillance capitalism - posted in late July 2025, so up-to-date. Students will like this because the framing is "is your phone 'listening' to you?" Looks like this will be a series, which is great! www.youtube.com/watch?v=8VL1...

I loved and still love dance music. Basically since Trump 1.0, I've been really going deep into dance music to escape. That love started with open house party.

Did other people listen to open house party on the radio on weekend nights in the 90s? It wasn't on my local stations, but if I pointed the antenna in the right direction, I could get it on Flint Michigan stations.
Then after I started going to Armenia, I realized John Garabedian was Armenian.
