I know shutting down everything would cause untold harm. But having flights become inherently unsafe from lack of ATC personnel, who are stressed, and might not be getting enough sleep, would likely also cause a lot of harm.

Notably, the quote in the article is "If we thought that it was unsafe, we’ll shut the whole airspace down". Which like, considering how many people are calling out sick, isn't the most unfair thing to say. Even if the correct move is probably to shut down all non-critical flights.

On Saints Row we had a debug npc named Skinballs (lol) that was literally just four spheres wrapped in different shades of skin texture so we could test lighting for different skin tones during development. But teams need to plan for that kind of testing with intentionality, and not enough do.

I wanna be a least a little upset about all the universes beyond stuff going on taking over MtG... but gosh DANG this art and theming.

Now I just have a "2025 scraps" bullet (and soon "2026 scraps") that I put most things into. And I can do things from there. Or I could potentially use the new calendar feature and mirror stuff to other places so I can find that information in both places. So much easier!

This update in my thinking is important because it removes friction from me just putting stuff into Workflowy. I used to want to perfectly organize stuff. Put bullets in their "correct place" immediately. And this put a lot of internal pressure on myself that made it hard for me to use.

On top of that, I also realized that it just doesn't matter where I put bullets all that much. Especially when trying to quickly capture information. I can easily move them somewhere else later. Or mirror them somewhere else. Structure matters a lot less than I thought a long time ago.

Realized recently that Workflowy bullets can effectively be viewed as "notes" in their own right. Not only can you put as much text in each bullet (or "note title") as you want, you can put as many bullets as you want as children (or "note content").

No idea if it will do exactly what you want, but Workflowy has a "present" mode now which turns a series of bullet points into effectively slides. And it has a pretty generous free plan to see if it does what you want. Doesn't create a PPT file though.

Is there a specific threshold that's going to be hit (like SNAP on Nov 1) that is going to impact air travel? A friend mentioned it might get bad, but I haven't heard about any specific thing.

My wife and I have been enjoying a lot of "non-traditional" horror (or adjacent) movies this month, which has been great. I don't like "standard" horror movies. Some big winners have been stuff like: Get Out, A Quiet Place, and The Menu. Maybe Jurassic Park at some point.

I also have advice. Everybody loves reading advice on the computer, so I'll share it: the best thing you can do right now is log off as hard as you can. Go outside, talk to people in real life where it's actually kind of rude to talk about the news, try to actually see the friends you usually just text message. Go for a long drive and turn the phone off while you do it. Get back into your hobbies or pick one and learn it for a while. Watch one of those studio movies that reviews called "wildly miscalculated" and you haven't seen since high school. Play an album you like but find embarrassing. Go to free community events even if they sound stupid. If you take the freeway, try the surface streets. Go to a bad diner and just order some bad coffee because even bad coffee is good coffee. You can't help anybody when you're exhausted and keep posting one million college-educated rewordings of "I would love to be dead right now" on the computer. Walk away from the thing and try out some of those normal things you hear about and if you get bored that's wonderful because we're not supposed to get bored anymore. It turns out boredom is the Cadillac of feelings.

I storyboarded a fan anime opening for my favorite childhood game, megaman legends /ロックマンDASH I wanted to animate the whole thing, but that’s way too much effort. Did it in a way where I can fulfill that childhood dream and move on. Maybe one day I'll form a MAP project out of this!

the simplest way to prove LLMs can't actually reason is to ask them how to do something which cannot be done. "you can't do that" isn't a common enough answer because usually people don't ask for how to do things that can't be done, so LLMs will never simply tell you "you can't do that, actually"
