because these standards are not clear. There needs to be serious reconsideration of this section. The impact of this behaviour goes beyond β€œoffence” of an individual. It undermines the work we do every day in reducing gender-based violence. I will be going to the government, this is your (cont)

@ofcom.bsky.social - serious question. Where does misogynistic commentary and sexual harassment come into consideration on section 2 of your guidance notes? β€œContext” can’t be used as an explanation for any of it, nor can pre-warning the audience.
You have broadcasters getting away with this (cont)

the impact of media on harassment and violence perception in the UK. Unfortunately the broadcast service feels they responded β€˜appropriately’ and @ofcom.bsky.social β€˜s section 2 seems to imply a show airing at a later time means this is acceptable. Seems a bit absurd you can say sexual harassment

Hi @jessphillipsmp.bsky.social! Wondering if you were up for a chat to discuss some offensive and misogynistic content on a widely broadcasted TV programme in the UK and the lack of responsibility broadcasters and regulators take on its impact?! Something has to change. We need to start realising

If so- please get in touch. I feel like I’m losing my mind dealing with people and companies that don’t understand the impact of media on harassment and violence! Please share. Hoping to set up a call in the coming week. #policychange #endviolence

Question for those on Bluesky in the #GBV and #policy space. Have any of you successfully engaged with broadcasters or a regulator for these services for changing their standards to reflect a 0-tolerance policy for behaviour that contributes to societal norms about sexual harassment against women?!

While I don’t know anything about TV and media production, I am going to take a wild guess that @itvx.bsky.social isn’t quite up to date with the work we do in the GBV space. And that’s ok. But it’s time we collaborate and work together where these areas intersect. I’ll keep all updated.

@itvx.bsky.social, I do hope you take not only my feedback, but so many others, with general concern and change. To preface, ITVX recently aired a programme which had a contestant that repeatedly made misogynistic and unacceptable comments to and about women.Their initial response? Not promising.
