I used to use parallels. Generally it worked extremely well. Only complaint is they'd sometimes show popups to try and upsell you on their other tools. Which is despicable in software you've paid for! And their "don't show again" option never seemed to work. Otherwise it was very good

You mean for updating code rather than runtime? AST grep is one of my favourite recently discovered tools for this. Formatting-insensitive search and replace over the AST is so nice, and can be a huge improvement over regex

lit-html is a nice middle ground if you want declarative rendering with no build step or complex machinery. Not the WC stuff (though that's good too), just the tagged template literal
