Fascinating bit of physics in my #trailrunning this morning 😃
Turn up the sound on this clip, and you will hear the neatest frequency increase as I run across the lake. Not sure why this is happening, the ice thickness is likely uniform, perhaps changes in the snow thickness/density. #science

132-million-year-old dinosaur tracks could solve 'dark period' puzzle
While volcanic eruptions decimated the Karoo Basin, new fossil tracks prove that life persisted in the lush coastal Brenton Formation.

Protecting the environment is good for B.C.’s economy | The Narwhal
Job creation, tax revenue, small business support: why don’t B.C. politicians value the economic benefits of environmental protection?
Disputes over a hypothetical new pipeline have devolved into a rote debate that pits environment against economy, @michellecyca.com writes. Meanwhile, First Nations in B.C. are demonstrating that protecting the environment creates wealth and jobs: thenarwhal.ca/environment-...

‘Climate change is here’: Experts warn global crisis is decades ahead of forecasts
Drought, heatwaves, hurricanes, and wildfires are arriving sooner than we imagined according to scientists
One of the things I did on Twitter before leaving that toxic mess was drawing attention to how the climate research community was underestimating #GlobalHeating. As bad as the predictions were, I argued it was actually much worse.

COVID-19 shot tied to lower risk of death from any cause, study shows
Adults who received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine have a lower risk of death regardless of the cause, a new study has found.
COVID vaccine linked to lower risk of death regardless of the cause, large new study www.euronews.com/health/2025/...
Very obviously this is a correlation study. Still, key message: NO big harm signal. On the contrary.
NO "turbo cancer". NO "sudden death." Etc.
