"I can give you a 15-minute history lesson that will explain ICE and our current politics.”
“Can I use a timer?” he asked.
I said certainly.
I prepared the lesson, and my nephew started the timer.
Here is what I told him: terikanefield.com/let-my-peopl...
I told him things are different here and labels have different meanings because we have a different history.
I could see he was curious, but I knew he had no interest in lengthy history lessons, so I said, “I can do it in 15 minutes . . . "

My 16-year-old Chilean nephew was curious about what’s happening with ICE.
In Chile, the word “conservative” is associated with capitalism, and “liberal” is associated with communism. He observed that Trump says he’s a capitalist but doesn’t act like one.

If you are going to share that leaked 60 minutes segment, INCLUDE SOME COMMENTARY in your post that makes it necessary for readers to have access to the full video to understand the commentary. CBS has a deep black eye over this and the odds that they'll look to punish ppl
You can message me on Facebook. I'm there. www.facebook.com/terikanefiel...
19.12.2025 04:52 — 👍 4 🔁 1 💬 0 📌 0I never received it. Are you on any other sites? I could put my email here, but I did that once and a spam bot picked it up.
19.12.2025 04:26 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Weird. I am afraid to put my email address here because I did that once and a spam bot picked it up and I had tons of spam for a few weeks.
I have another idea. Can you find my contact button on my website?
I have a better idea!

18.12.2025 23:19 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0I'm looking for a reader. I hate to put my email here. I did it once before and a spam bot picked it up. Can you find my contact info on my blog?
I'm so thrilled about the statute, thank you. Researching and writing that book was one of the privileges of my life. I worked closely with the family.
Are there any librarians with time to read a piece of literary fiction?
I looked for a setting to make sure my DMs are open to anyone, but I can't find it.
😀Well, mine are called Over the Cliff Notes. Entirely different thing.

But nobody only reads the Cliff Notes . . . right?
I learned that some people are using AI to generate a summary of the book I'm offering free 😆
I therefore decided to compete with AI by writing my own summary, which I am calling Over the Cliff Notes.

30.11.2025 20:13 — 👍 14 🔁 7 💬 0 📌 2Hey everyone, online ratings (Goodreads and retail sites) are helpful, so if you read it and feel inclined, I'd appreciate it.
If you download it from one of the online bookstores, I think you can leave a rating there.
Thanks!!
HAHA good! I was getting awfully tired by the time I got everything posted, and I posted to YouTube last.
30.11.2025 00:12 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0can you find my contact info on my website? Once I posted it here and I ended up getting picked up by a spam bot.
29.11.2025 20:14 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 2 📌 0Do you know how?
If I send it to you, will you do it?
I'm exhausted !!!
Thank you! It's not actually reading the book. It's more talking from notes, but the transcript helped me transition to a more complete book.
I also have a page with the transcripts.
I also asked some people for blurbs because that's what publishers do.
29.11.2025 18:50 — 👍 11 🔁 1 💬 0 📌 0For the book, I hired a copyeditor and proofreader, but errors kept creeping in because I had to manually enter the corrections, and sometimes I could swear my keyboard is haunted.
Mostly I depended on people who supported what I was doing and helped me out.
Thank you, to everyone who helped.

(I don't know why they're coming up out of order. I thought I selected the right button to make that happen but . . . 🤷♀️. Electronic things hate me.)

When I finished, I sent the series to a sound engineer because I hated how I sounded.
He performed his engineering magic, and it definitely sounds better, but, well, am I the only person who dislikes the sound of my own voice?

When I talked into the mic, I had to get my imaginary classroom’s interest, and I had to do it with words because breaking into a tap dance, under the circumstances, wouldn’t help.
I recorded each episode a few times because I kept getting ideas for how to better present the material.
6/
Imagining that wasn’t difficult because one of the courses I taught before law school was basic college English composition. Very few students show up on the first day thrilled about English composition.

As part of the process, I “talked” the ideas into a microphone. I used the blog post for lecture notes.
I imagined I was speaking to a lecture hall filled with undergraduates who would rather be somewhere else . . .

(I think I'm on #4 LOL)
“Why the heck did it take you 2 months?"
Once I started looking closely at the long blog post, I saw ways to improve it. I made stronger connections. I revised passages. I moved things around. I looked for better words.
You know, the things writers do compulsively for hours, days, and weeks.
