If we do t want race mentioned when reporting news we need to stop mentioning race. That’s it.

In those cases you are correct but I’m only asking about one person including race when mentioning a crime

I mention it because that’s the way it works in Canada, where I live, after you assumed I was American.

It is a big deal. It’s just that racism is not criminal. It’s a lot of terrible things, maybe it should be criminal but it ain’t. Canada’s hate crime law wouldn’t be enacted because race was not mentioned by the cop.
