In any case, no videogame released since Yoshi's Island (SNES) in 1995 has had better graphics than that so we can all rest easy. We're not topping such perfection.

If a game "looks good but you can't see what's happening" then, in fact, the game looks like shit.
I was once asked, somewhat facetiously, by a friend "okay, I'll bite, what makes Asteroids so good graphically then?"
To which, my response is "think of anything the games graphics communicate that could've been done better". Won 'em over with that, as it happens.
I say this as a person who believes without irony that the arcade game Asteroids (1979) has some of the best videogame graphics ever.

Make shorter games with *stylised* graphics and fewer shareholders.
Personally sick of hyper-realism in games myself, if I have to be honest.
Good art direction needs no AAA, billionaire budgets. See also: Hades I/II, Silksong, etcโฆ The list goes on. Stylized art is timeless!
DOA4 kicked ass, but alas I only got to it (and DOA3 on OG XBox) when revisiting the series in the hype for DOA5, which I loved.
Some may deride it as 'Titty Tekken', but IMO it's always been more 'Flirtua Fighter'.
Don't worry, you're not making Absolum (the game I had in mind when I posted). ;)

And it's like, these people DO know the buy-in for arcade games was optional, right? They didn't "force" players to pay the money.
