Agreed. Season 1 after the rest of the series shows how much was cooking right under our noses, too. Really good payoff, I think.

Today was a new notebook day. Set up future logs for rest of this year and next. Reset my October month, and then journaled like my life depended on it. 😂 A lot to process from this past week still. But feels good to have a clean slate of it, of sorts.

Homemade pasta cut into bits and used in a chicken noodle soup last night. About 20-30 minutes of effort and an hour of time for a delicious and healthy meal on the first truly cool day of the season. I love cooking at home with my wife. 🥰

With Autumn starting tomorrow and the weather seeming to actually fit that (sort of) in SoCal, we stocked up at Costco. Ready for heartier homemade meals. Maybe some potato soup coming soon. I love this time of year.

Just ten minutes of writing down a few thoughts in the morning clears my head in a way social media can never provide. I like to be connected and informed but having my sense of self strengthened at the start of day inevitably makes for a better day.

Felt down about politics and my ability to do anything about it. I believe ranked choice voting makes sense, though. So I emailed my state representatives asking them to push legislation forward. May not help. But then maybe it will. Regardless I feel like I did something good.

Monday hit hard today. But got stuff done. Tracked my thoughts as cleanly as I could so I’m better for the people who need me. Upgraded to iOS 26 (I’m a fan, unexpectedly). Time to cook some dinner for my love and relax the rest of the day.

Cleaned up the home office a bit tonight. Found stuff to recycle, donate, and share in the business office when I go there later this week. Already feeling better in my head for having a tidier working space, though.

Seems a little thinner than the Pilot Varsity M that was the first “do I like fountain pens? let’s go super cheap first” test. But only just. Workable for me.

This may explain why there’s an aggressive response to people who merely post Kirk’s own words. It threatens the existence of the alternate Kirk - the motivational speaker that had been marketed to young kids and white Christian groups through selective quotation & clips.

Fountain pen update: the LAMY AL-Star is great. I love the grip as it’s forcing me to relax even more and just…write. The western extra fine nib is about as wide as I’m willing to go, though. 😂😂

Last car we bought it was down to Ford (brand loyalty on my wife’s side) and Subaru (friend’s recommendation). Subaru won out for better features, price point, and not feeling like a plastic toy on wheels during the test drive. Easy choice there.

And because it’s an awesome day, spending time at Disneyland with my lovely wife. Did the Pluto pumpkin hunt, got a Pluto sipper, and a spirit hoodie I’d been eyeing for a couple of visits. Just a chill day blowing our budget. 😂

I just restarted the first game this week. Going slow for a bit of relaxing memory lane time. But love how it leaned hard into the weirdness from the start. 😂

Also got my first LAMY AL-Star fountain pen today. Making sure the nib is clean then eager to write. I liked the tripod grip before I cleaned it up. Extra fine nib for me and my spidery script. 😂

Rode my e-bike to coffee breakfast today. Good quiet alone time out of the house before the rest of the weekend.

First real ride since an accident almost two years ago.
