Can you put into words what that purpose is? You and the frog have really become icons of this protest. There’s been a nice overall whimsy that has shown up. The frog is amazing. We had a bunch of other inflatable people here last night, too. I saw people playing Twister the other day. What they rely on is fear. So by coming out in an absurdist manner, it speaks to them, to some extent, that we’re actually not that afraid. It also dismantles their narrative a little bit. When they try to describe this situation as “war-torn,” it becomes much harder to take them seriously when they have to post a video saying [U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security] Kristi Noem is up on the balcony staring over the Antifa Army and it’s, like, eight journalists and five protesters and one of them is in a chicken suit.

Trying, desperately, to get a feeling of influence/ importance/ power, i would think. Clearly without much in their own lives. Sad, sad, small folks.

good news is i'm re watching it and having a blast.

it's a caper! that's the whole point. they are all having a great time. the tension between the seriousness of the action and their delight in it is the point. you gotta get to the end. seriously.

I'm about 20 min in, rewatching for the first time in years, and i find the soundtrack cozy and witty and ... optimistic? I dunno. I love this film so much.

Tonight on a NY1 interview, Andrew Cuomo described Zohran Mamdani as "an existential threat" to New Yorkers and the Democratic Party. I can't say strongly enough that this is despicable, dangerous, irresponsible language. I've never held Cuomo in high esteem; let this election be his banishment.
