So, there's this guy named Harold Roe Bartle, who was a Democrat mayor in Kansas City back in the 1950s/60s. He gained the nickname of Chief, and when Lamar Hunt moved the then Texans to KC, he renamed them the Chiefs in honor of the mayor of the time (I'm not endorsing it, just saying history)
