So are we meant to be calling him Nonce Andrew now?

That's not ideal ...

They're horrific, man. Once you learn the specific quirks, the sometimes escalate to usable.

When I'm feeling sufficiently cynical, I suspect it's a design decision designed to lock HR departments in.

It was not long after another team spent quite some time changing their system to stop storing passwords in the database in the clear. The same way literally everybody else had been doing.

The past was wild, man.

In fairness, you are delegating it to somebody who you believe to be better at it than you. I can distinctly remember the point at which we twigged that instead of writing our own password handling and storage, we could instead ask google
who the person trying to use the site we wrote was

Ah, SSO.

At a popular high street bank I worked at once, we had Single Sign On. It was not, in fact, sign in once and be singed in everywhere, it was use the same credentials everywhere. It was largely described as Sign On Everywhere

If you ever read any of the Jennings books (or similar) growing up, Hogwarts was instantly recognisable, because it was ripping them off.

Obviously I was at boarding school, and the House you were in was where your bed was. Also where you ate and did prep (homework). Also where you hung out a lot of the time, although I had a lot of mates in other houses, so I also spent a lot of time in them instead.

And your tutor was in your House

When you were taking the time (I assume it as quite a lot of time) to do this in roll20 it worked pretty well and wasn't very disruptive.

But:
1) I got the impression it was a lot of work
2) It was a different bunch of players, several of the current crop find it distracting, I think

Given I remember trick or treating at least twice before I went to America in the summer of 82, I suspect it was a little bit of a thing in the 70s.

Admittedly, the first time it was my mates showing up just as it got dark and we had to come up with a costume idea while they stood around waiting

Auntie Ethel was my Nan's best friend. And the Oxfordshire extended family were cousins if they were my age, aunts or uncles if they were older, because literally nobody knew the exact relationships ...

I think 2 consecutive terms would actually (in hindsight) have probably turned out less damaging.

He wouldn't have had 4 years of grudges about the "stollen" election behind him. Or Vance. And way more people were standing up to him in 2020 than are now.

One of the first CDs I ever got. I totally didn't sit in the dark in my room at university listening to it over and over again when my girlfriend dumped me.

Quite, some of us remember the 80s. I also remember the 90s when I used to watch running battles up and down Tottenham high street from the top deck of the bus hoping it wasn't going to be too bad as my stop was White Hart Lane.

That's mostly what I use it for. I do find it occasionally useful if I discover something that wasn't correctly tested (often because it was extracted out and the tests are at too high a level) that I'm about to start changing. It's ok at throwing me a bunch of tests as a start for existing code.

As I understand it, Let's Plays are basically just a way of printing money. Maybe we should do that.

While I'm really looking forward to our Fabula Ultima game, I'm a little sad that the rest of the gang didn't see that Wildsea was the obvious choice.

Should add really that if you're a smol newsletter bean who would dearly love to NOT be on Substack, then I will happily roll (and manage) a Ghost install for you for cost + a small maintenance fee.

I'll talk you through setting up your own mailgun and stripe. Do that and you keep ALL your revenue.
