Why does it feel like you’re dropping after take-off? As the plane takes off + climbs, pilots reduce the climb rate & engine power for efficiency + noise. This double change creates a sensation of “dropping,” but the plane is still climbing steadily. It’s all about how your body perceives motion!

I landed in this weather yesterday at London Heathrow. Quite challenging but the Airbus A350 is just superb in a crosswind. 👏 ✈️

Thin-ish…but super-super strong! 8 pounds of force on every postage size part of it when pressurised in the cruise! Amazing material technology!

That’s the aircraft Ice Probe just outside the flightdeck window. It’s designed to pick up ice first to warn the pilots of icing! Early warning! It vibrates slightly and that changes when it’s iced up so we get warning bells in Flightdeck to put anti-ice systems on. Clever stuff!

Thunderstorm dodging into Barbados this week. The hatched colour means clouds were below our level, but they were very active and climbing fast so we had to pick our way through them to keep the ride smooth! They are a force of nature, but look beautiful in daylight!

Fantastic. I’m Flying one back to LHR from Barbados tonight! Land in the morning on the VS664

This was a few years back but still one of my most Interesting flights as a pilot. Landing a Boeing C17 into Bardufoss in Northern Norway in winter. The runway was a few feet below the packed snow and sand surface we landed on. Felt like a normal runway! Bloody chilly though!

Yep agree, if they’re going to out on an exhibition match, at least have a proper boxing match and give the paying fans their moneys worth
