I discover a podcast new to me, settle down to listen to the latest one, only to ear the immortal phrase, "Welcome to the final episode...!" Aaaarrgghh! Ah, well. I loved it, and am now going back to listen to them all from the beginning.

I can but imagine the joy something like that would bring! Once I moved to London in 1981 there was a local newsagent with a similar overstuffed spinner rack from where one could find all manner of years-old comics, and amass complete runs. I picked up a 17-issue run of Firestorm there!

We never had those where I was. There was an old junk shop that had an upstairs room heaving with old Annuals, so going through those was always fun. That was where I first discovered Gerry Anderson and Thunderbirds, etc.. But we had nowhere that did old comics, sadly.

The thrill of the hunt was a huge part of the enjoyment of comics collecting back in the day. Traipsing around towns both familiar and unfamiliar, down dark alleys and deserted back streets, Wants List in hand, trying to find that issue of Jimmy Olsen that had so far eluded me...

It's an excellent book! Thanks for weaving such an enjoyable and intriguing tale.

Looks lovely. I really need to pick up a copy!
