Does kind of annoy me a bit when people are like "wow that's so impressive that you made it through that" and like I didn't make it through entirely unscathed as well as it being a frankly shitty situation that I shouldn't have had to experience and neither should anyone else.

I grew up in my mum's council flat with no proper room of my own and weirdly squatting was my first experience of having my own room for the first time. Couldn't go back though as it's super packed as it is.

As much as it was a big learning experience for me and I had some fun times, having to squat for housing really fucked my brain up and having to mostly rely on other people for housing with a constant worry that I had that it could be taken away didn't help.

Like I also have a bunch of trauma around my housing now so not having somewhere stable really fucks up my mental health.

It's one thing that has really fucked me over in terms of housing too. I ended up being made homeless before like 2-3 years ago and pretty much most places I have lived in were because I knew someone who lived there. Thankfully got somehousing stability now.
