Hi all, Thank you so much for all the help you've given us recently, it's made a huge difference in allowing me to deal with my poor mental health. We need help with another unexpected goal—a surprise car repair! Thankfully the bill wasn't huge, and we think some of it will be covered by insurance, but it's about $450 that we're going to be missing for a few weeks at least. We also need additional help covering some medications that are particularly expensive right now, as well as a few other basics that might be a little hard to cover over this month while my income has been poor. I'm going to ask for contributions of about $300 to get us through the month, though as always anything above that will be much appreciated and go toward our longer term stability. Yours is an egregious example but i see this happen innocuously a lot of the time, e.g. discussing various forms of transphobia or misogyny or homophobia in the queer community and blanket saying it's a "white queer" problem. Partially true, but reductive, and waters down the meaning of racism imo

Obviously there are situations in which the intersection with whiteness is relevant, but i keep seeing white people abstractly refer to "whiteness" in debates that are not actually about whiteness, and it's cringe to watch. As a white i get second-hand embarassment.

I've noticed more and more ppl (first it was mostly poc, now increasingly white ppl) tack on whiteness to describe any position on gender & sexuality they disagree with. "White queers/women/trans ppl" have done and said so and so etc
