The three Goosanders were still enjoying the hospitality of Swansea Vale today, as was a yaffling Green Woodpecker. Plenty of roving Long-tailed Tits about plus a pair of arguing Grey Herons over. #birdingWales

A very chilly couple of hours spent at Goodwick today drew a blank on the Ring-billed Gull. Consolation prize was a Bonxie heading passed Castle Point and later seen mobbing Gulls. Lots of Guillemots, Razorbills, Gannets and a Great Northern Diver too. Dolphins put on a good show. #birdingWales

A small black cow among the wet woodland in Newborough Forest, Anglesey

Great to see cattle introduced to graze recently restructured woodland at @natreswales.bsky.social Newborough. #CowsInTrees will help to maintain wet glades important for several rare plants.

Walked out to Ynys Llanddwyn where 10 Purple Sandpipers clambered on the rocks. @angbirdnews.bsky.social

Nice to catch up with the White-Fronted Goose at Kenfig Pool this morning, found by Neil Donaghy. The bird gets its name from the white facial patch behind the bill. #birds #birdingWales @eastglambto.bsky.social @rspbcymru.bsky.social @glamorganbirdclub.bsky.social

YouTube video by john l uk Goldcliff Birding #241 - Short eared Owl, White fronted Goose 4K

A quick visit to a very muddy Goldcliff but worth getting muddy to see my first Short-eared Owl. The camera wasn’t on a tripod so dodgy video but OK for still images.

A mostly dry day - it's a miracle!
A pair of Collared doves made obliging subjects for my camera, &, on the fence panels around a building site, I found what I think is a Larinioides cornutus spider & my first moth of the year, an Early moth (Theria primaria), I think.

Reed Bunting in the drizzle

Nice to see so many Reed Buntings at Llyn Llech Owain on Saturday, even if the rain and mist did their best to obscure visibility at times. Must have been at least twelve around the feeders at some points, often arriving together. #birdingWales #birds #UKWildlife #birdsSeenIn2026

A random selection from this morning's Cosmeston wander:
one of several Chaffinches; Goldcrests singing from every tree; & the female Scaup is still in residence, still mostly sleeping. Also saw my first Bullfinches of the year & fed the crows, my first visit to see them in a while. #birdingWales
