1.) those comments are not innocent
2.) I'd much rather someone is cruel to me online than in real life where their cruelty can hurt me physically
3.) what did you mean by "as a cyclist"?

There is something in the human psyche that once you get used to a certain price, you think of it as normal (pizza is $30+ these days!). Not sure economics accounts for it.

But yeah, this probably mostly applies to goods with high-ish elasticity.

The good news is that you can lose 4% of your investments every day forever and still not run out of money

I didn't know about this franchise, but now that I do, I clearly need this!

It's really good, but also so hard to start using. I've grasped enough to be able to configuration for my Mac, but anything complicated I still can't do.

One day, I'd like to package my apps using Nix using Mitchell Hashimoto's method of using Nix to build Docker containers.

- Homebrew for installing most GUI software (managed via nix)
- Ghostty as an always-open terminal in its own dedicated Aerospace window
- tmux, neovim, etc.
- but also Zed, VSCode, Cursor when I need to use AI

I think I've zero'ed in on a perfect (for me!) setup for my macOS. Once I stop being a lazy POS, I'll make a detailed write-up.

But for now it involves:
- using Nix for package management as well as system configuration via nix-darwin and home-manager
- Aerospace as the window manager for macOS

Warren Buffett has started a free WhatsApp to share his stock tips. He’s even using AI to find the best ones.

It’s definitely not fake because a.) I saw it on YouTube and b.) he said it in his own voice.

Good luck to humanity πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

In fact an expired iHealth test turned positive before a brand-new Abbott one (β€œthe lollipop”) did. I will never buy Abbott ones again.

LPT for purchasing an open-box Apple product from a reseller:

You can take it into your local Apple Store and purchase AppleCare+ even if it's outside the eligibility window. They will run diagnostics and perform a visual inspection, and if everything is well allow you to enroll in AppleCare+.
