against, but… this is where we are. A lot of our supposed heroes clearly aren’t… it’s time for new people and a completely different approach to politics, because what the Dems have been doing… has gotten us here.

actually win. Considering the state of affairs - a situation in which “law” itself has become a selective term - the left is going to have to get vastly braver, be willing to push much harder and realize that big picture is what counts right now. It’s not going to be pretty and the odds are stacked

cannot be said in order to make any inroads on the cultural front, which is, after all, the bottom floor of politics. Middle of the road Dems have no future, so the left… actually needs to BE the left. Mamdani would be a good start, but apparently the Dems are threatened by a candidate that might

I’ve decided, after many moons, to come up for air. Things are… about as bad as I thought they would be. The Dems are not up to the moment. Because I’m to the left of the Dems, I think we’ll need a vastly more confrontational left that simply says all the supposedly unpopular things that apparently

Good God… It’s already against the law… It won’t be enforced, so in a real sense there is no law… anywhere on the federal level. Pushing legislation to pass a new law… that also won’t be enforced… is an extraordinary waste of time. The cluelessness on display is breathtaking.

Why I'm not a Democrat
YouTube video by Dave Painchaud Why I'm not a Democrat

I’ve been keeping my head down since the election. I needed time. The horror of the right cannot be overestimated. That said, the Dems as a party, have been a failure. A new left - a far more robust left - is desperately needed. youtu.be/boHuVS5K3GM?...

Doing long form videos is a kind of therapy, and sometimes as a result, after you’re done you realize… you aren’t... done, that is! Going through the process of trying to get a handle on my own thoughts... elucidated more thoughts! I’m fairly easy to find there - just input my name - I’m not hiding!

New YouTubing - if you can spell my name, you can find me over there. In this one, I try to figure out, or at least engage in the process of finding out, where I’m at concerning a particularly lost society (ours - lucky us).

on every side… seem to think… things will just keep rolling along and there will be elections in our future etc. These folks could be utterly delusional… or it’s possible they’re right. I guess we’ll see.

If you’ve been following along, it’s probably fair to say I haven’t exactly been terribly upbeat about the future of democracy here in les Etats-Unis as of late. You can hardly blame me. But, allow me to play devil’s advocate… with myself. It would appear that people throughout government…

It’s obvious the Democrats as a party aren’t capable of recognizing the situation and lack the conviction to resist. So, things will get ugly. When regular folks have had enough… and there is some new leftist party which can operate without getting arrested, we might be on to something.

There’s no law or Constitution if nobody will enforce it. A lot of folks are making legal/constitutional arguments - but with no ability to enforce it, none of those arguments are going anywhere. Thus… what now?

I think I will probably be here more often, but… am not terribly sure I’ll necessarily be posting like mad here. The truth is I could probably use a break and a rest from all the bad news, but we shall see…

Our society and its future will be decided by engagement. If all the smart folks won’t take it anymore and start enforcing norms on all those wanting to tear it down, we can be successful. It’s going to require that. It’s going to be uncomfortable and it’s worth doing.

It’s extraordinary that people believe if we win the election… it’s all over. Was that the case in 2020? After that election is when it REALLY got crazy and if Biden wins, we’ll be in that situation again. They have no intention of playing by any rules and will (and did) resort to violence.

I occasionally YouTube - it’s an experiment, but I have a blast doing it. It’s been a year now that I’ve been over there and I thought it was time to discuss whether I’ve learned anything in that time. Check it out if you’re so inclined… youtu.be/6KwEGrpVKaM

Agreed. We have to match our opponents intensity… in every moment. It galvanizes our base and makes them want to vote. Nobody is attracted to weak, needy or someone who is perceived as incapable of defending themselves.

It was an incredible moment to watch. I like Psaki, and I think she’s tough, but when the moment came to really get tough… there was always a reason to back off (which were specious). People rally around a fighter. It’s extraordinary that they don’t get that.

job and well win and then… the party will need some serious reform from within. It needs to get more progressive and a little meaner and those who won’t fight, need to go.

It’s a great point. This inability to play hardball and to often run for euphemistic language is why I remain an independent. I can’t run with folks who won’t fight back - it makes you doubt their commitment. If the Democrats won’t fight, they don’t deserve to win. I think voters will do their

02.06.2024 00:11 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

Very possibly. The party doesn’t seem to understand that their base wants to fight back and wants an aggressive stance from their leadership. It’s not great when the leadership can’t figure out, or simply refuses to heed, what their own base is asking of them.

The people are fine - they want to after Trumpism aggressively. The Democrats find it difficult to do that. It’s a problem.

I think we should recall that there were those that thought that this case wasn’t all that strong. It was the weakest case. Those that said that, were not just wrong, they were incredibly wrong. Those that had a more aggressive view… had it right. Yes, keep score people.

While it might be easy to mock Maga assholes for their anger in this moment, take some time to remember that that anger is actually coming from a place of profound weakness, and we should be sure to mock them for that too.

Can you blame them? It seems a fairly clear eyed assessment. Maybe… if more of them could actually get elected and our politics wasn’t dominated by an elder generation that has no intention of passing the torch, they’d feel more invested. Seems… reasonable.
