tetsuya mizuguchi truly, earnestly believes, with his whole heart and whole mind, that generic vocal trance from 2003 has the power to awaken humanity's shared consciousness and guide us to universal peace. The strength of his conviction is so powerful that it might actually cause this to be true

I think there’s a feeling I/many of us have where we want to experience the true β€œcanon” of excellent art in our lifetimes. The truth is that we all have our own canon of great art that we naturally come across over time and your canon might not include the 1933 classic Duck Soup.

Now that I’m a father, 50 hours of playtime feels a lot more expensive than it used to. I still play like a fiend, but I will now freely drop games if my time feels like it’s being wasted/spent compulsively.

Look, Zelda is great but it might not be YOUR great game. Maybe it’s Minecraft, IDK.

So you’re telling me Pokemon Legends: Z-A has a real time battle system and takes place within the confines of a single city?

If you call and complain and say you didn’t get a new game, they sometimes comp you $10 iirc

There’s a really cool mission-doling system where you don’t see the seams/icons as much as other similar Ubisoft-style RPGs, but the loop of β€œbop around, do a thing” is almost exactly the same even 4-5 hours in.

Ghost of Tsushima was my favorite 2020 game but Yotei isn’t hitting me the same way yet. I played 40 hours of AC Shadows (which has a pretty similar premise) in February and the action isn’t quite clicking the way other recent samurai sword games are.

In a world where the former doesn’t exist, the latter is a pretty good choice for a backup (I haven’t seen the new movie yet).

Update: Hades II has continued to get better since I wrote this. Ghost of Yotei was easily one of my most anticipated games of this year, and yet after my kid goes to sleep this is all I’m playing.

Hades II is insanely good. Writing, upgrade systems, everything fully taken up a notch. And it’s supposedly like double the size of the first one???

I think Silksong is great but the friction is just high enough that I don’t constantly feel the urge to jump back in.

I don’t mean straight difficulty either…I’m doing fine with boss fights and platforming. The long corpse runs/charging for save points is getting to me.

I didn’t get around to playing it but my impression is it’s closer to where it needs to be in the Transformed department but cuts a lot of corners and isn’t exactly in the same league

Loved the demo, easy Day 1 pickup for me. Are you able to say if the song unlocks are going to be a bit easier to get than Remastered? As in, you don’t need to do a single flawless 2-3 hour run to get everything (or at least you can retry if you lose in journey).

My second novel, A Frightening God, is now available on Kindle and in paperback!

Kindle: amazon.com/Frightening-...
Paperback: amazon.com/Frightening-...

It's a weird, fun sci-fi story about a kid who goes on a journey to meet his maker.

Cover art by the great @nathanandersonart.bsky.social

Compared to my first book (300 pages, bigger, messier), my goal for #2 was to go sharper, weirder and overall better.

Speculative sci-fi, just under 200 pages. About a kid that attempts to physically meet God.

Novel 2 text complete (7 drafts!!!), ebook ready to go, just making sure the author proof is in good shape before I put everything on sale. Basically comes down to picking the right paper and making sure the cover (lil preview below) is aligned right.

Hopefully a week or two! LFG!!!

It would not be hyperbolic to say Weapons made me feel new emotions I’m not sure I’ve felt in a movie theater before.

I think consumer rights are important and we can’t trust pubs to protect digital purchases forever, but also, man, I have a family and a life and other things to worry about. I just can’t imagine being someone who cares so much about this I miss out on playing a game that launches digital only.

@superpac.bsky.social I just tried Lumines Remastered on a plane ride and its use of HD Rumble (thumping to the beat) is one of the coolest applications of the tech I’ve seen on Switch. If you guys do something similar with Arise/Dualsense that would be very awesome.

I thought the first 3 hours set up this amazing blend of East/West fantasy but pretty much from right where the demo ends it falls off slowly for the next 40 hours. I still liked it ultimately, but it felt like they let go of a really awesome dark fantasy story.

Hello friends, a quick break from the current story line with a preview of my first book and a question. The preview will be in comments but my question is, should I wait till it's finished to release it fully or release it chapter by chapter somewhere?

The world was dying, and Dr. Elias Vance was running out of time.
He sat in the sterile glow of his lab, exhaustion clinging to him like a second skin. The hum of machines filled the silence, a constant reminder that progress was slow-too slow. Outside, the city was unraveling. The news reports played on a loop: hospitals overflowing, governments scrambling, bodies piling up in makeshift morgues. The virus-an enemy unseen and unstoppable-was winning.
Failure. Again.
