Can we stop having menu screens at fast food chains CONSTANTLY CHANGING while the customer is trying to read them? There's got to be a better way.

3yo: "I can't hear [the TV] when you do that."
A sewing pattern for a vintage reproduction coat dress from 1948 (Vogue 9280) rests atop a bold black and red plaid fabric, with a sliver of red velvet draped across the top. Dress design has a dramatic contrast inner collar and contrast cuff linings on the sleeves.
My current project is a new winter coat, because I was not at all prepared for how cold this winter would be!

I'm so glad you finally defeated the captcha!
22.01.2025 16:00 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0My 3yo had a half day at preschool, and I'm trying to get him to nap so I can wrap presents. He naps every day at preschool, how hard can it be?
So far, in the last hour, he has called me upstairs to tell me:
1. Swim away from the sharks
2. I want Pikachu socks for Christmas
3. Who is Snoopy?
What is the worst thing to touch, and why is it a peeled banana?

I hope he gets to meet you someday. You are his hero.
A key asymmetry of this era of American politics and how itβs covered is that Trump is expected to do bad and corrupt things, so when he does it barely qualifies as news. But Dems are expected to be beyond reproach, so anything that seems even slightly suspect is a huge scandal.
02.12.2024 23:09 β π 19683 π 4378 π¬ 665 π 350I'm crocheting, baking, getting out into nature. Oh, and reading. Like actual books! It's been years...
19.11.2024 02:38 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I'm old enough to remember four whole months ago, when SO MANY people were complaining that "I would like SOMEONE to vote for besides two old white guys!" And then when suddenly "someone else" turned out to be a black woman? Crickets.
18.11.2024 19:37 β π 4 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0I've been here about 24 hours, and so far it's a lot more photos of herons and foxes than I expected.
17.11.2024 13:18 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Never bothered to watch the other two. Think I'm due for a Hobbit re-read, though.
16.11.2024 23:44 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I think I watched the extended editions on DVD a year or so later, with a friend who loved them. Haven't watched them since.
Picked up The Hobbit in college, blazed right through it! Loved it. I've read it a couple of times since.
Saw the 1st Hobbit movie in theaters. Left very confused. 2 more!?
Then I would rent the first two movies before going to see the third in theaters.
It took me all three months to get through Fellowship. Slowest reading pace of my life up to that point. I then attempted to read Two Towers before giving up. Just went and watched the movies. I enjoyed them fine.
I was an AVID reader in high school, and I read Fellowship right before the third movie came out. I wanted to see the movies with the books already in my brain, because the book is always better (I firmly believed at age 18). My plan was to read one book a month, with three months to go.
16.11.2024 23:36 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I've been finding myself revisiting old hobbies, since all of my passion and drive for the current hobby suddenly left me last Wednesday. I'm reading again, I'm crocheting, I'm baking. Might take up watercolor painting. Going to volunteer at the local animal shelter. I'm keeping my head above water.
