Perhaps, since it is clear that many people around my age have not updated our political priors since we became politically active in the 00's, but British influences are helping reinforce that impression and spread it to a new generation.

I am still an atheist but elevatorgate really revealed a reactionary rot in the movement, and these days I exercise my non-exercise of religion on my own.

the department of justice, for starters, knows. the FBI knows. if they had damning evidence on any democratic public figure or any dem-aligned billionaire, it'd already have been released in the most salacious way possible. this shit isn't unknowable, vance and trump just want you think it is.

In Britain the economy is a mess and the major parties are the being the same, which has resulted in a lot of generalized anglosphere content about how the economy sucks and the major parties are the same.

When Democrats controlled Congress, they did the January 6 committee hearings, which arguably helped Democrats overperform in the 2022 midterms. I expect that there will be similar investigations and committee hearings if Democrats take the House in 2026. Right now they don't.

It's language like this that reveals Trump's government has seated itself on Russia's side of the table. The Alaska meeting won't be a negotiation between opposing parties, it's going to be a consultation between a client and *their* lawyer.

You don't *have* to do this though. If it was up to me, it would mandate retirement of serving justices in excess of the term limit at one per year by descending seniority. It's the constitution, it can do it.

I think if you wanted to write an amendment that introduces court term limits "fairly" it would impose those limits on the serving justices from the time of enactment. They'd all get 20 years or whatnot from today. Some would serve less time because of death or retirement and start staggering terms.

My impression is that this looks at the 22nd Amendment, which instituted term limits for the president *after* its enactment, the 27th, which sets pay for elected officials effective next term, and other vested interests, and decides that laws cannot apply to the people in office at their enactment.

Bunch of Air Force airmen vaccinated me at a community college in Brooklyn, it was a great patriotic moment that has since turned into ashes.

I know people who are Democrats Of Opportunity; they run for city and state offices, sometimes for US House, but not on the VP ticket, you are not going to be a national symbol of a cause you don't believe in.

At this point restoring status quo ante 2022 would be a pretty big win, but one that Russia is very unlikely consider acceptable since they still seem to be looking to go whole hog.
