Placate the narcissistic Orange Man-baby with awards and gold.

If billionaires can do it, why not FIFA?

Apparently FIFA has learned quickly that the best way to get what you want from the Orange Man-Baby is to feed his narcissistic ego and give him gold.

Sickening.

Ask Ethan: Can we ever observe a proton decaying? As the lightest baryon in the Universe, the proton is thought by many to be eternally stable. But if it isn't, can we observe it decaying?

Can we ever observe a proton decaying?

#AskEthan

As far as we experimentally know, the proton is a truly stable particle.

But theoretically, there are many motivations to search for proton decay.

Will we ever observe one in action?

What would it mean if there is no dark matter but a whole new kind of quantum vacuum (non-particle) related phenomenon? πŸ€”

Schematic of a Dark Matter halo surrounding the Milky Way compared to a Qvion halo. Darker areas indicate a stronger halo. Qvions are gravitational solitons that form naturally when the total gravitational field strength drops below a certain threshold. Galaxies embedded in clusters, like NGC 1277, don’t form halos (they are suppressed) because they are in a high-g cluster environment. This has been a big issue for DM models. I’m working on finishing up a covariant field theory that models a new way to think about the MW halo. It doesn’t involve DM particles at all, but an activation regime of quantum vacuum stiffness. Here’s a peak at a rough graphical representation of the β€œQvion” halo vs. DM NFW-like.

So, I'd say this could be a dark matter signal ... just like I could be a millionaire after buying a lottery ticket:
In principle not ruled out, I really hope for it to happen, but it is unlikely and every time I've tried thus far it didn't work out.

My initial insight that it could be the quantum vacuum tugging at galaxies came from thinking about both the Lamb Shift & the Casimir effect. Even though these are vastly different scales, simply asking:

β€œWHAT IF the quantum vacuum could tug at stars?” Leads to an elegant no-DM solution.

A (dark matter) Space Oddity:

We have an exciting new paper led by @pengfeili.bsky.social: arxiv.org/abs/2511.17705
He used the best data on the Milky Way rotation curve from Gaia to infer not the current, but the *primordial* dark-matter halo of the Galaxy.

And it is quite odd. πŸ§ͺπŸ”β˜„οΈ
