β¦ because those fans of adult best sellers were young readers once. β€οΈ My daughter has started reading the Fancy Nancy chapter books, and they SPEAK to her. This essay is a nice little read if youβre feeling blue or burnt out, or if you need reminding about why we do what we do. Link to follow π§΅β¦
20.03.2025 17:04 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0βCertainly, writers of adult best sellers command the megabucks and become household names. But how many of their fans fling themselves into their arms squealing, βI love, love, love your books!ββ - Jane OβConnor, about the importance of fostering a love for reading at an early age. 12.02.2025 03:37 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Almost my entire art process lives on the iPad. It has been great for travel (from my desk to the couch), but the downside is staring at a screen all day. I get so many migraines. Iβve seriously considered transitioning to traditional art. I write most of my manuscripts in physical notebooks π

It has been such a pleasure working with this team, and Iβm grateful for everyone who has had a hand in helping the baby grow up. Weβre almost there! #kidlit

06.02.2025 19:38 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0#kidlitartpostcard dayβ¦we meet again. Hello! My name is Jessica Goecke, and I love to draw weird, funny things that would (probably) never happen in real life. For projects, please contact @christiemegill.bsky.social at @thecatagency.bsky.social

05.02.2025 17:56 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Iβve not read Gianni Rodariβs work, but I like his vibe, and Iβm excited to dig into his books. Hereβs a great video + post from Chrissie Wright about Gianni Rodari, what Mac Barnett says about him + the heartbreaking thing that happens (in education) when reading skills eclipse reading joy. #kidlit

Most of my art is on IG, but Iβm going to start posting more here, and Iβd love to connect with more of the kidlit community on this platform :)
26.01.2025 18:43 β π 24 π 3 π¬ 0 π 1Shoutout to @dansantat.bsky.social and A First Time for Everythingβ¦my 11 year old (reluctant reader) read it, loved it, and shared it with his 12 year old cousin, who read it, loved it, and made his mom read it too! The first book that my son has shared (on his own, even!) because itβs that good.
23.01.2025 20:09 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Adria is five stars! I remember I queried her a couple of years ago, and she passed on my book, but she referred me to some agents who she thought would be a good fit. It was so kind and thoughtful. She gives so much of her time and knowledge to this community. Looking forward to this episode!
