He’s an awful creaturebut does he really look bad for someone in (I assume) their mid-40s?

Paint that shit gold.

β€œMeatheads who move their lips when they read” is my new favorite insult.

That depends on how often we mean by β€œrepeatedly.”

Rock bottom.

Inviting ourselves into a war now seems like a good cover for his eventual "suspend elections due to war emergency" strategy (or at least the attempt, anyway).

Nah, you misunderstood. I’m not defending liberals, I’m criticizing leftists.

21.06.2025 13:23 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Defending them?

21.06.2025 13:22 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

No way this is real, as much as I’d like it to be.

21.06.2025 10:31 β€” πŸ‘ 3    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Yes. That’s exactly why these attacks on liberals by leftists are misplaced. The β€œliberals” are an easy target but they’re not the actual culprit in this scenario.

They still can if you ask politely, or sometimes the crew will just offer. (That’s how I discovered that this is still a thing.)

Maybe not? I share much of your discomfort with generative AI, but as consumers it’s still our responsibility to separate reality from marketing claims. That’s true of *everything,* not just AI.

20.06.2025 17:36 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Is it? I tend to think we’re each individually responsible for our familiarity with any given technology.

The tools are already useful and important in highly constrained ways, but it’s difficult to get people to see that when their only understanding of AI is β€œget ChatGPT to write an essay for me.”

If it helps, she intentionally disfigured herself with plastic surgery to be more appealing to the MAGA crowd… so that skin condition is kinda on her.

YES!

Nobody on the ballot supports mass murder of Jews, get the fuck outta here with this trash.

IMO it’s always been a foregone conclusion that Cuomo would win; his name recognition advantage is just too strong.

But Mamdani being *that* closeβ€”despite relatively little political experience and a scary-sounding name!β€”is a good sign that voters are waking up.

Holy shit, he actually sounds like someone I’d vote for.

… compared to socialism or any other type of massive, top-down societal organization. Libertarianism feels β€œright” to many people because it works well in the small social structures that we humans directly experience, but breaks down as societies grow.

17.06.2025 09:27 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

Right, but for a long long time, those β€œrules of how to live together” were informal and emerged naturally within small communities.

I’m not saying libertarianism IS more natural, but that it *seems* more natural …

17.06.2025 09:27 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

I personally think Libertarianism is stupid, but it seems to me much more β€œnatural” or intuitive compared to socialism.

They’re all modeling human language, so wouldn’t it be more surprising if they *didn’t* converge on the same preferences?

I wasn’t able to attend a No Kings rally today, but checking in now I’m kinda blown away by the turnout nationwide. Optimistic.

Some! Although thankfully not nearly as many.

Well, one good example is anything related to AI. Posting about AI or LLMs on Bluesky will usually result in a mob of ignorant and factually incorrect criticisms. (Not that I’m against criticizing AI, but the critiques should be fact-based.)

14.06.2025 11:09 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Agreed, but speaking as a progressive liberal, Bluesky really *does* have a sizable mob of anti-intellectual left-wing extremists.

t sometimes reminds me of the earlier days of Twitter when I was more afraid of gentle disagreements with my β€œside” than serious disagreements with my opponents.

β€œFor some reason”? Opinions on Israel aside, they’re a US/UK ally. Allies assist with these sorts of thing.

13.06.2025 09:56 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Yeah, it’s just way too on-the-nose to be real. The photo, the compensation, the LLC name. A legitimate post wouldn’t be so eager to reveal its intentions. I wish it were real too, but this is obvious bait.

12.06.2025 10:53 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

True, but the hard part is convincing 51% of Pennsylvanians that it’s true.
