We are moving and shaking, following the movement of the Spirit, and shaping the church toward more justice, more liberation, and more shame-free living. We are resisting forces of oppression, namely white Christian nationalism, and God is with us. Amen. Amen. Amen.

It is an honor to join this number of women I know, love, look up to, and admire (and some I’m just learning about!). It is not lost on me that a publication like Sojourners saw our work supporting abortion access and Reproductive Justice, and our loud queer witness and said YES!

Wow! I am starstruck that @sojo.net thought of me, my amazing Co-Director Rev. Iya Latishia James, and SACReD, and added us to this list of powerful, amazing, badass women shaping the church in 2025!

I wonder where my mind and body might connect more deeply when there is less distraction. I can’t wait to really wander, remember boredom, and get lost. Who knows what I’ll encounter?

I still want to know what’s happening in your life! Let’s stay connected via texts, old fashioned phone calls, and sharing a meal together.

In this season of wandering through the wilderness of Lent, I am deepening that purge by intentionally stepping away from social media. I may pop in from time to time, esp for work. But I am paying attention to where my attention goes, and too much of it feeds these algorithms of consumption.

Since November, I have sought to build more in-person, local community. It has been a season to prune what does not and will not serve me in these times of chaos.

And what is it that we do with that space in between? When we are fleshy, strong and soft, when there is a tangible physicality to our being, when we are embodied, what will we do?

May your Ash Wednesday feel holy and gritty. May you feel that dirt under your nails, that real substance that reminds us that we come from the earth.

From dust you came, to dust you shall return.

I am so fascinated by the messages of these Super Bowl commercials. So much anti-DEI but so much representation and messages of compassion.

Maybe something about the country still being divided? Or the current administration’s efforts don’t actually represent the values of people in this country.

Good God. What is happening?!

Prayers for everyone impacted by both plane crashes at #DCA and #Philadelphia this week. May God be with their souls and protect everyone in the immediate area, especially the first responders.

DEI did not cause a plane crash. This is infuriatingly ableist and racist garbage. In our greatest moment of need, we are once again abandoned by the very people meant to lead.

People with disabilities are not the problem here.
People with disabilities must not become the scapegoat.

Presidents and all leaders must take responsibility for those under their care and the ways their actions impact them.

As Bishop Budde reminded us, have mercy on those who are scared.

Amen. We have to pray for her and all the churches whose phone lines and inboxes are on the receiving end of the backlash today.

The Cathedral is asking for written cards of support if you’re so inclined.

There are reasons why the word “sanctuary” means several things at once in our language.

I loved watching Bishop Budde speak truth to power yesterday. Now I ask you to keep the Bishop and all of our Episcopal siblings in the DC area in your prayers.

The hate calls are coming in hot and strong on any line that is listed. May the Divine protect our hearts, minds, and ears in these days.
