I agree. Idk why I’ve just never been big on building in public. Mostly because I didn’t really start this with any type of plan it just sort of happened. But I’m down to be a part of any group you are a part of, my friend!

It doesn’t make any money yet (I haven’t tried to monetize it and might never), but it’s a weird position to be in. Having small app resources with emerging big app problems. Trying to figure it all out is weirdly lonely sometimes as the only coder, so wanted to commemorate it in some way publicly.

A month ago my side project launched for its 8th year. In the last month it’s gained an additional 9,500 users, pushing the total since 2018 over 60k. It’s one of those things I want to talk about more often but it’s hard to find the time or solidify what to take away from it.

on the right track. I think the solution feels solid although there is some part of me that wants to skip the dispatching and somehow delay the mounting of the component until the modal is opened so it feels more typical.

Wish I could send a screenshot right now but that felt like the best way to open the modal right away but also load content separately. Just not sure if there’s a “better way”

I’d love to hear more from you on this! I want the modal to open immediately and then the content to have a loader within the modal. So I basically open the modal via flux within an Alpine @click and then also do a $dispatch right after (also in alpine) to send an event that loads content.

You tried refactoring to a single dynamic modal first or you moved frameworks because of this issue?

Yeah same but it wasn’t scaling super well. I had a table with 25 rows, 3 buttons per row, and it was taking 9 seconds to load

If you have a page with a table, and each table row has a button that triggers a modal with dynamic content, is your default move to have one Livewire component per row, or one Livewire component on the page and do some trickery to make the content dynamic?

Yeah fair! Seems our tastes are aligned. I think there were some pacing issues we’re both getting at but the core was good.

Yeah same. I think they were basically like “let’s make this a crowd pleaser and throw everything at the wall to ensure success”. And the gamble will probably work but i look forward to future movies with more quiet moments.

There’s like 3 major plot points/sequences I wish they cut out to expand other parts more. The stuff they nailed they really nailed, and I wanted more of that stuff. I give the movie a B but I’m very excited for more of this universe.

Yeah interesting that’s pretty solid pricing. Resend is similar but more expensive but I’ve been using them in this pinch I’m in and they’re solid. Realizing I accidentally built an app that heavily relies on bulk emailing without realizing it 😂
