I have to make some ugly things. And work on developing my process to support taking these ugly things and improving them at least a little bit.
Focus on your system of learning and making art. Go without goals, honestly.
Whenever I focus on my process, I find mistakes, and on my next try I aim to just be better than that mistake.
Whenever I set a goal, it's a lofty ideal. I will likely fall short of it and take a hit of discouragement.
You're 30 or 40 years old and you've wanted to be an artist for a long while.
It's definitely not too late to start if you're brave enough to make it through the initial ugly phase.
I believe you're brave enough at least for that phase.
