Bluepoint had plenty of games they could have brought to PS5. Not all would have done incredible numbers, but they would have been low risk ways to make money.

I was hoping when Jim Ryan left it meant they could get back on course and put his stupid initiative behind them. But if they're going to let the developers go instead of take the hit, I can't say I'd call it "back on course".

If you acquire a company and mismanage them to the point there are mass layoffs or a closure, I firmly believe there should be strict penalties and fines. This is specifically about PlayStation, but it goes for every industry. Why is this allowed?!

PS3-era Sony was my favorite. I was a defender when everyone moved away. It was the generation the depth of their output hit its peak.

MotorStorm, Resistance, Infamous, Warhawk, LBP, Journey, Uncharted, Puppeteer, PS2 collections of Ratchet, Jak, Sly, Ico. Constant releases and there was variety.

I love this timeline. Such fun divergences from our own timeline that create crazy butterfly effects. My favorite is how Naughty Dog creates Gen 6 of Pokemon with Ellie and Riley as the trainer and rival instead of working on The Last of Us.

Hell, even the PS3 era was great. They were giving massive AAA blockbusters like Uncharted and Infamous, but also weird quirky games like Puppeteer and Tokyo Jungle.

The gold standard for remakes/remasters is shut down because they were mandated to make a live service spin-off for a series no one wanted multiplayer from. What a joke.

To be fair that was a scaled down Wii game (which I think was scaled down from the PS3/360 version) of a game that never got that much love. I think Toy Story 3 PS3/360 is a better example of the gap between video games vs movies in that era. Still pretty big, but not the giant leap there.

It's definitely not on par with the Blasphemous games, but I'm having fun. Strings you along too much for a Metroidvania IMO, but the combat feels good and has a decent amount of options.

That’s the weird thing about Frostbite, everything I heard with its troubles tells me teams weren’t communicating with each other. It sounds like DICE, Respawn, and the sports teams figured things out on their own and let the others struggle.

It sounds like even BioWares teams didn’t communicate.

I don’t know if their DATV foundation will translate to the next Mass Effect is all. Maybe it will, maybe they need to change enough that starting with a more flexible engine is the best choice. Really only their leadership has enough info to make that call.

But it’s not their own internal tech. It’s DICE’s that EA mandated on all its devs then reversed that decision. BioWare’s development hell with Inquisition didn’t help them with Andromeda, Anthem, or DATV’s development either. Granted they had many, many other troubles but that’s still smoke.

If you want to play the Sonic 1 and 2 decomps (incl. Forever and Absolute), act now because you need the RSDKs from them!

I think it depends how easily their foundation translates over to Mass Effect. Frostbite doesn’t really have the tools for an RPG on its own, so if they have to go too far back from what DATV modified, it might be better to start on an engine with more tools they need available.
