I'm actually super embarrassed for the city and furious about this

It's gaslighting and basically implies reporters are liars at a time when press freedom is already under attack. #journalism

Most of the major creative firepower on that show would never have the experience they needed to craft this in a system outside CanCon requirements.

Hey, uh, could maybe get some information on how the partnership between Microsoft and the VSB now extends to getting graduating credits for learning proprietary Microsoft software?

The Narwhal is suing the RCMP to protect press freedom for all Canadians, and our case will be heard in a Vancouver courtroom beginning next week. We’re counting on your support as the case unfolds, so here’s what you need to know. 🧡

The potentially additional step here: delete all your Bluetooth devices. I found it was ultimately a Bluetooth driver that refused to uninstall correctly until the Windows Reinstall. Doesn't wipe any data, just validates the install.

Getting off US tech: a guide I’m in the process of dropping US tech services. Here’s how I did it, and options you should consider.

Silicon Valley’s alliance with Donald Trump was a mask off moment and showed the world we can’t depend on US tech companies.

For the past few months, I’ve been trying to get off US tech and I put together a guide so you find alternatives too. I hope you find it helpful!

VPD Officer Was Quietly Investigated over an Abusive Relationship with Teen | The Tyee A police watchdog report does not reveal the officer’s name or the school where he met the teenage girl.

Reporting by @kehyslop.bsky.social

We know about this incident because it mentioned in the appendix of a recent OPCC report. But we don’t know the officer’s name - meaning he could work at schools or with youth in the future and parents wouldn’t be aware of his history. thetyee.ca/News/2025/12...

No deaths in a year

That's pretty incredible, given the severity of the toxic drug crisis in BC this past decade

Hugely important thread of info on this. Compassion Club was an overwhelmingly reasonable, considered, and just attempt to stop mass death completely ignored by all levels of government. Every single level of government could be saving lives tomorrow and chooses not to, everyday.

Unsettling Horror Game Horses Banned From Steam, Leaving Studio With 'High Risk' of Closure - IGN Indie horror game Horses is preparing to launch on December 2, on the Epic Games Store, GOG, Itch.io, and the Humble Store. But one place it won't be is on Steam, because Steam has banned the game for...

Really wild situation here: a celebrated and well-regarded indie dev and publisher is facing shutdown because Valve banned their game from Steam and won't talk to them about it, at all.

In an interview this week, Ken Sim said that he had a list of all the times he said no to the Vancouver Police Department, and said a lot of their budget increases were out of the city's control.

We got the list. We looked at the budget.

Here is a fact check.

Pet peeve: police chief's using the term "boots on the ground" to discuss a civic police force. That phrase is not as generic and fun etymologically as you think it is.

Just to clear things up: the discrepancy seems to be a replacing of the numbers on the doc from Net vs Expenditures.

Ugh, so annoyed I didn't save the doc last night. But the Budget Vancouver 2026 doc I was reading this weekend/last night literally used different numbers under Police Services than they do today. It used to propose $497mil.

12.11.2025 18:53 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

The numbers don't even add up on the doc anymore. The difference YOY now reads as a $46.2mil change, and a 10% change. But the difference by percent with new numbers is actually 9.2% (or 9% if rounded), implying whoever updated this doc forgot to rerun the % numbers. What is this budget.

Vancouver Police Board wants city to increase budget by $50M amid mayor's tax freeze promise | CBC News The Vancouver Police Board has voted to approve a budget request of just over $497 million in 2026, a $50 million increase over 2025's final budget.

Hey, anyone know why the Police Services budget is $28mil higher today than it was yesterday? We're now looking at $525mil on the budget doc online and during the presentation today, but this was $497mil in all reports/docs before today. @jmcelroy.bsky.social www.cbc.ca/news/canada/....
