Whatโ€™s the worst intersection in Metro Vancouver? (FINALE) The semi-final votes are in: youโ€™ve narrowed our 32 intersections down to the Grand Finale, pitting Vancouverโ€™s triangular terror at Main & Kingsway against Richmondโ€™s chaoticโ€ฆ

We started with 32, nominated by you. We're down to TWO intersections in the Worst Intersection in Metro Vancouver finals!

Main & 7th & Kingsway? Or No. 3 Rd & Sea Island Way & Bridgeport Rd? Only one can emerge victorious. Vote now!

Bligh has a decent amount of support from the province and feds (more than Sim or Allam at this point), which could help.

But her 6 years being a supporter of Ken Sim, and getting elected under both the NPA and ABC banners, means itโ€™ll be difficult to get support from local left-wing parties.

Rebecca Bligh voted to slash wages for workers, to block rental housing in wealthy neighbourhoods, and to oppose common sense tools to properly fund our schools.

We need a progressive mayor on the ballot to deliver the change Vancouver needs. And weโ€™ll get one. More soon.

Going to council today - motion #5

Iโ€™m really curious to see how this is received. The motion potentially up-zones almost all of the weathiest single detached properties in the city.

Will be telling who is for/against.

Support more housing along bike routes and by parks! Here's how: - Peter Waldkirch Webzone Lucy Maloney's (OneCity) motion to legalize housing by parks and bike routes is housing and climate action. Here's how you can support it!

IMPORTANT: Here in Vancouver on Sept 17th, City Council will consider a motion by Councillor @lucymaloney.bsky.social directing Staff to look at allowing 6-storey apts & retail at corners along active transport streets & around parks. This idea should have been done 10+ years ago.

Please support.

Many cities could use #BetterMayors.

Weโ€™ve had many excellent ones in recent years, including @annehidalgo.bsky.social @valplante.bsky.social @clovermoore.bsky.social @wutrain.bsky.social

Who you choose to let be mayor has a huge effect on your cityโ€™s success. It canโ€™t be overstated.

Pick better.

New Westminster, B.C., extending school zone speed limits New Westminster is extending school zone speed limits, just as students head back to class. As CBC's Rafferty Baker reports, the change is part of a broader effort to slow traffic in cities.

Kids are back to school today, and New Westminster is changing 30km/h school zone hours to 7am-10pm. This is a great change - school zones are active zones all day long! Thanks to @pjnewwest.bsky.social for the leadership, and great comments from @michaelhall.bsky.social

โ€˜Fear and anxietyโ€™: What our police FOI requests uncovered about Vancouverโ€™s stranger assaults scare Internal emails obtained through Freedom of Information requests shed light on the Vancouver Police Department's media strategy related to stranger assaults ahead of the city's 2022 election.

Huge kudos to Andrew and Lisa for sticking with this story for months and showing how the VPD slow-walked FOI requests and requests for updated data.

We're excited to get to talk with her. Gotta respect elected officials who don't shy away from sitting down with The War on Cars!

It's a housing crisis. Why is Vancouver still banning apartments on the vast majority of residential land?

This suppresses both non-market and market housing creation, exporting the city's shortage to rest of the region and province.

Upzoning is cool and good and it is my friend

Let โ€˜em build some housing! What're you worried about, people with jobs and homes using the Red Line?

Atraid of density? then why did you move to the big city my good friend [emoji making a โ€˜this guyโ€™s nuts!โ€™ gesture]

โ€˜But I wanna drive my car!โ€™
The bus is better because you can read a book on the bus

Dear โ€˜Save Edgewaterโ€™: If I ever see you again claming that increasing supply increases prices I will spank your bottom and enroll you in an econ class at Loyola

Say YES to proposed Upzoning in Edgewater
