So I made my own. Runs locally as an app on Mac, Windows and Linux.

Now 1,100 users use it for 3,742 types of conversions.

like at some point i do think that's the end of the sentence. i think clankers need to be bullied out of polite company.

people do not care about integrity, only about convenience. the awesome thing about actions (and bad opinions) is that you can change them. but if people are unwilling to even have a conversation about how ai exploits the work of their creative peers, maybe they're just bad people.

any discussion of the ethics of ai is met with "ugh, no one cares" and "i like ai!" and "why don't we talk about dessert instead?" from people who are neutral or pro-ai, while the creatives in that space have to just carry on knowing that their peers do not respect them.

(you're not even allowed to talk about pf spam in that server though so idk why i would even begin to expect a productive conversation to take place about something that actually has ethical weight to it)

-over actually taking any actions that would make a space welcoming though, i guess. instead of talking about issues in a space, such as for example the allowance and therefore tacit approval of ai-generated material, it's easier to preserve the artificial peace if you just don't acknowledge it ever

now get ready for... no one wanting to talk about any of this bc people get really uncomfortable for some reason when you ask them to consider how their actions impact other people. it's no secret i think that ffxiv communities prioritize presenting a veneer of being friendly and welcoming-

you've heard of the (unfortunately less apocryphal than anyone would hope) accounts of people using ch4tgpt to churn out slop rp replies. you've heard of people using characterai instead of Making Real Friends. you've heard of people putting ai-generated assets on their community carrds.

but i guess i shouldn't be surprised that the same pervasive hustle culture that enshittified party finder and hijacked rp nomenclature and leans hard into the hyper-commercialization of a hobby would recreate the same exploitative dynamics that are present in actual capitalism.

this is actually surprisingly prevalent on the ffxiv venue scene in particular, where there are more than a few night clubs and djs who use ai to generate logos, flyers, or banners.

actually i have more to say on this. the sole reason why you can get away with being pro-ai in this way (i'm sorry. "neutral" on ai. so pro-ai. but "neutral," guys.) in the ffxiv community at-large is because there is a not insignificant slice of people who do not respect creatives.
