We had a very enjoyable walk up and around Dundreich in the Scottish Borders last weekend. It was overcast but dry and we had good views - and chat. Our next day walk is at the end of October, all are welcome including non-members.

In line with our social and environmental values we donate any surplus funds from our weekend trips to organisations we support. This year we've split Β£300 between UK-Med Gaza appeal and Assynt MRT.

What a fantastic weekend in Torridon! Despite winter weather and strong winds, we all got out - climbed mountains, went kayaking, enjoyed wild swimming and gentle shore walks. Plus great food and a warm, comfy hut at Mol Mor, thanks to @n-t-s.bsky.social. To the Lake District for our October trip.

New coalition calls for overhaul of land reform plans There is a crucial lack of pace and breadth in Scotland’s land reform strategies according to a new coalition of organisations representing community groups, environmental bodies and land reform...

Scotland’s world-class outdoor access rights began with Holyrood’s first #LandReform Bill.

But land reform is an ongoing journey, and it’s time to pick up the pace, so that everyone benefits. πŸ—ΊοΈ

We’ve joined with diverse partners to push for deeper, bolder changes during the next Parliament. ⬇️

What a monstrosity. Hopefully it'll do its job properly and stop rockfalls landing on folks' heads. Will also solve the knotty problem that's out on consultation - there will be no vehicular traffic going this way any time soon. #Samson'sRibs #HolyroodPark #Edinburgh

We had a great weekend away in Elphin recently, to the Grampian Speleological Club hut. We enjoyed a wide range of excursions: Conival & Ben More Assynt; Cul Mor; Cul Beag; Ben Hope; a plane wreck search; a coastal walk & swim and a cycle to Lochinver.
Our next trip is to Torridon 18-21 September.

Scottish heatwave sparks tenth wildfire warning The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service is urging the public to avoid using naked flames outdoors from August 13 to August 19.

❗ High risk of wildfire for nearly all of Scotland during much of the coming week.

It should barely need saying but still, please shout it from the rooftops...

πŸ“£ It is simply not responsible to have a campfire when the wildfire risk is high.

This is powerful analysis from @kat-jones.bsky.social of @aprscotland.bsky.social. If national parks are to be a mainstay of how we protect nature, enhance access and provide lasting community benefit (and I firmly believe they are) then a bolder approach is needed.
