My church choir is in England right now on tourβ€”in residence at St Paul’s and at Canterbury Cathedral. They do it every 3 years. I couldn’t go this year.

Wondering today whether it will be safe for me to visit the UK in 3 years. And who in the Anglican Communion or TEC will notice or care.

O Lord, preserve and protect us from all combustion in our presence. Guide and direct our people to the emergency exits. And fill us with thy righteous urgency to evacuate with haste to the carpark.

An hour each. In fairness there's about 10 minutes of warm up activities at the start of each one.

My company are setting up a new workplace choir.

We had our 3rd rehearsal after work today, and so far we've got 3 pages into learning "You'll never walk alone". We're not even at the chorus.

Let's just say, it's a little more of a sedate pace than I'm used to.

Amazing piece! I assembled singing friends for my 40th birthday to do a scratch performance.

Similarly does anyone have thoughts on what a good church website should contain?

Does anybody have any good suggestions for people to approach to get a new logo designed for a church?

My view from the choir stalls is that invariably, when presented with a range of options, the presiding priest does something entirely different.

I've been tinkering with my psalm verse bot. It now includes the psalm and verse number, and also the translation from the Book of Common Prayer.

While our pipe organ is still broken, we have this electronic organ to fill in.

Anna Lapwood (organist, Royal Albert Hall) was playing a free concert in Cologne tonight. Over 10,000 people showed up.

2 hours and 2 performances later, we didn't make it inside. We were this close 😭

I think it involves a bit more than just the software. I'm guessing there's speakers, and some way to hook up the manuals to the computer.

But we might need to look into it if the organ builder can't fix it.

The organ at church is still banjaxed, so the music list has been amended to an unaccompanied mass setting.

It looks like he might be using Hauptwerk software, which can play samples for different organs.

There's a YouTube channel called 'Beauty In Sound' where the former assistant at Winchester plays using this software, and uses samples of organs from all over Europe.

My company is starting up a workplace choir. The feedback after the first rehearsal was "No religious music, especially in Latin!"

Does anyone have any suggestions for fun, lighthearted and easy repertoire for newly forming choirs?

Our Director of Music got about a page into the voluntary before the organ gave up and he had to stop.

He's normally so skilled at working around the faults of the instrument that most people don't realise how broken it is.

Anyone got a couple of million they want to spend rebuilding our organ?

This day last year I took my wife to the Jolly Judge pub in Edinburgh.

Back when I lived there in the early noughties, this was a regular Sunday night haunt after Evensong.
