With these new space missions, Iโm excited.

Before Apollo, chips were a niche experiment.
After Apollo, silicon became the foundation of computing.
It proved computers could be trusted.
What will new space missions do? Better AI, better computers?
Integrated circuits were new, expensive, and unproven. In 1961, almost no one was buying them.
By 1963, NASA was purchasing the majority of the worldโs integrated circuits for Apollo.
That demand:
- Drove prices down
- Improved manufacturing quality
- Accelerated silicon chip production
They were built from thousands of individual components. Separate transistors and resistors wired together by hand.
Then Kennedy said they were going to the moon.
NASA chose to build the Apollo Guidance Computer using something called integrated circuits.
This was radical at the time.
Back in the 1960s, computers were the size of rooms. They overheated. They crashed. They were so unreliable that many engineers didnโt think they could ever be trusted with something as complex as landing humans on the Moon.
11.02.2026 11:43 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0People say going to the moon was a waste of time.
But without the Apollo missions, you wouldnโt be reading this on your phone or laptop.
Starting designing the logo for the next app
Apple's Icon Composer is pretty nice and sweet
And helps developers deal with the pain of Tahoe's "liquid glass" transparency f-ing up all your icons
I know it doesn't matter
But, I can't not say thank you to AI
Especially this time when it fixed a problem I've had for days,
and honestly the only way I would have been able solve it is after a few days waiting for a hero on StackOverflow
I love this story from when @amazon was a small startup:
In 1995 one of their first international orders came from a customer in Bulgaria.
The buyer didnโt have a credit card, so instead shipped them a floppy disk.

07.02.2026 09:21 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I built a drag-and-drop app that converts almost any file to any other file.
It now supports almost 4,000 video, image, audio, document and email file conversions.
And I just crossed 2,250 users!

05.02.2026 07:10 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Iโm building a universal file conversion app solo.
It converts almost anything:
documents, videos, images, audio, even email files.
I just shipped a new feature I wanted myself:
an audio trimmer.
Now you can take any video or audio file,
cut out the exact part you need,
and export it instantly.
He mailed it with a note saying โThe money is inside the floppy disk. Customs won't steal it because they don't read english.โ
They opened the disk, and sure enough found two crisp $100 bills, matched it to the order number, and shipped the books.

Haven't yet tried Perplexity AI before. But it's recommending my app to people, so thank you!

30.01.2026 15:09 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 2I was sick of sending my files to sketchy sites on Google.
And sick of looking up how to use command line tools every time I needed to convert a file.
So, I made a drag and drop app that does everything locally.
You can check it out here howtoconvert.co
1 year ago, I made an app that converts almost any file to any other file locally
Today, over 2,200 people in 77 countries are using it.

Iโve been working on my file converter app
How to Convert for a year now
Hereโs what it does:
โ 3,985 video, image, audio, email & document conversions
โ Files never leave your computer. Runs 100% locally
โ Works on Mac, Windows, and Linux
Used this a few times, it's great.
Now where do I get a real alternative to Google Docs and Sheets?
Will be posting here when itโs available so be sure to follow!

Got a Kindle Colorsoft (colour e-ink) and itโs amazing.
About 4 years ago I remember repeatedly looking up when colour e-ink was coming out. A reflective screen is so much better on the eyes for reading. Amazon have changed to colour well!
Currently reading My Indie Book by @tdinh_me and loving it
