For both with Embrace, I have had the insurance plan where you pay up front and they reimburse a % (w/in 3-7 days), & the wellness plan which is kinda like an FSA where you pay a specific amount every month that you can access any time during the year in any amount up to $650 for preventative care.

I have had very good luck over two dogs with Embrace Pet Insurance. It covered 2 knee replacements and treatment for 2 cancer surgeries for my previous dog and a spay and post-surgery infection after the current dog.

Immigrants are a social good, anti-immigrant propaganda is basically all lies, and any approach to the "problem" that doesn't start form those two points is worthless

the real glory of world war two was that it involved a warrior cult being ground down and beaten to a pulp by people who would rather have been doing something else.

My terrier would absolutely be willing to tell a municipal office I am mentally incompetent just to mess with me.

Also incredibly lucky that today’s fascists came of age during 20 years of war with no draft and that few of them were willing to sign up for.

"Getting rid of USAID is a very easy way of winning headlines... But if your one accomplishment in government is to rip funds away from the neediest, so that they can die, so they can be unmedicated, so that they can starve, that is a moral stain that I hope will haunt you 'til the day you die."

I don’t know what you do specifically but I work in HR for a software company and would be happy to refer you if you want to DM me? I know the crushing emotional destruction of unemployment far too well.

Absolutely right, and also applies on a national scale. We can stop the harms from continuing, maybe, but we can't erase the harms that have already been done, and they are staggering.

I’m going to enjoy it at least a little if Buria gave up a promising military leadership route to hitch his star to Hegseth only to be thrown immediately under the bus. I will take FAFO where I can get it.

I assume his wife is on all these chats and in all these meetings as some sort of (hopeless) guarantee she can make sure he doesn’t cheat on her the way he cheated with her.

@jbf1755.bsky.social this is Phoenix Joy, she genuinely loves watching history lectures and documentaries with me. Her claim to fame is being related to PBS’ Wishbone.

In the absolute chaos of these first few months, I seem to have missed coverage of Canary Mission - do you know where I can find an explainer of what they are and where they came from?

It's the annual Ask a Manager salary survey! Every year, vastly fewer men fill this out than women. Men, please share your salary info (anonymously) so we have concrete salary comparisons to inform pay negotiations and fight the pay gap

@mattdpearce.com can you recommend a book or two on the history of labor in America? I know enough to know I don’t know enough and I am ashamed of my lack knowledge on the sacrifices made to get weekends and 8 hours days and no child labors, etc.

Schumer keeps talking about how the public needs to β€œrise up.” We live in a representative democracy, Chuck. We elected you with the understanding that you would be the first line of defense here, not the guy hanging out in the back waiting for the mob to storm the castle.

We shall postpone fighting on the beaches, we shall keep an eye on the landing grounds, we encourage everyone else, should the right circumstances come, to fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall eventually retreat to the hills; we shall never explicitly surrender.

How do you reach people for whom ripping his wife out of his presence and sticking her in a cell with 100 other people on the way back from their honeymoon doesn’t trigger any sort of change in opinion on Trump? When there is no level of β€œfinding out” that changes their minds?

I will never forget the photo of Zelenskyy’s face after he saw Russia’s war crimes in Bucha in 2022. He seemed to age years in an afternoon. Watching him constantly cross the world asking for aid that should have been thrown at him is one of the deepest shames of our age.

I have watched in my lifetime a succession of Presidents betray one ally after another but somehow it's never felt as bad as watching JD Vance demanding a personal thank you for doing it

I had a pretty maximalist view of how bad things were going to get, but even I did not expect "normalizing the seig heil" to be one of the bullet points.

Even if β€œthere’s nothing the Democrats can do” was true, I would still want them to fight everything, tooth and nail, as hard as they can for as long as they can.

There is honor in that. More than that, there is a signal that American democracy is worth fighting for.

Do Not Comply In Advance: bossy, already a cliche, implies permission to comply later

Fuck You, Make Me: leads by example, directs yelling at opposition instead of allies, easy to chant at a protest or put on a banner

How on earth do I read my Following feed in chronological order? Every time I open the Bluesky app I have to spend 10 minutes scrolling backward in time to where I last left off. It’s de facto set to reverse chronological order and destroying my brain.

Here’s just one example of an American citizen deported to Mexico as a child during the Depression who was despite being deported was still subject to the American draft in WWII and served the country that had deported him. www.nationalww2museum.org/war/articles...

And at least some of them were then drafted to fight in WWII under pain of losing the American citizenship that didn’t protect them from being deported during the Depression.
