Actually, we calculated that over half of the studies surveyed deliver concentrations (in vapor phase) that are higher than the concentrations IN the source (i.e., in liquid or solid phase). Crazy!

NIH layoffs threaten US's edge in science and health innovation
With weekly government layoffs, one announcement deserves far more attention than itβs receiving: staffing cuts at the NIH.
To the outstanding civil servants at NIH who are waiting to find out if they are one of the 1200 individuals to be laid off this weekend, we stand by you and know that you worked hard to help the country innovate, find cures, and save lives. This sucks. #MedSky www.rdworldonline.com/nih-layoffs-...

Our universityβs NIH CTSA (Clinical and Translational Science Award) was just cancelled for having some keywords that just mean it will serve ALL people in Utah. This funds research that moves discovery science into clinical therapies. This is literally the mandate of the NIH! π° π§ͺ

Comparison of odorant concentrations in experimental studies, headspace of natural sources, and detection thresholds in rodents.
Glad to share this review of odor concentrations in nature versus experiments, just out in J Neurosci. Spoiler: they are far apart. We discuss implications for olfactory neuroscience and welcome debate. With @neuroboz.bsky.social @dewanlab.bsky.social, Betty Hong. www.jneurosci.org/content/45/1...
