I think the general idea is to make Wit a combination of Charisma and wisdom, (i dumped wisdom because wisdom feels like it should just be part of a characters personality than a skill) where its a measure of someone's applicative thinking ability

Welcome in our new skill, Wit. its not a measure of how good someone is at talking to people, because that has always irked me, and high charisma characters always feel like they are built to just brute force talking to npc's. Hopefully if i can make this idea how it is in my head i can avoid that

Dude i hate charisma as a stat in ttrpg's sm, because its a vital aspect for skill checks but like aside from that its such a pain in the ass. I can't figure out fucking ANYTHING unique or cool to add as a bonus for putting ur very valuable stat points into it

Free action - Basically a bonus action but you can take an infinite number of them per turn, anything that can be a free action has a great cost/downside or otherwise cannot be stacked

Reaction - same as dnd for now i haven't found any issues or things id wanna change

in case any of the three people who see my posts are interested the system is basically as follows:

Actions - universal, everyone has the same actions and can take one per turn

Sub-Actions - unique to each players skills and abilities and take 3 per turn to modify your action

ahhh i get so assuming i had infinite resources i could make infinte sub actions. Reminds me of Magic tbh. Ill have to play around with that, i like the idea of combat being more dynamic with more strategic options through resource conservation.

that's interesting, what i was planning to do was limit them by turn but make ability activated through sub actions be limited in some way. is that kinda thing what you mean?

If id use this system bonus actions would have to be altered a little, maybe i could use them to introduce a stance system with stuff like uncanny dodge?? Reactions however i think are just fine #ttrpg

My current best idea is to have a main action, where you chose a like basic attack or cast a spell, and then have some sub actions to modify your attack, (ie stuff like meta magic or ki points or stuff with a wider extent)

Actions are weird cause like, im trying to find a middle ground between dnd's boring single action, bonus action system and pathfinders triple action system which just feels a bit off imo
