Well, fortunately, hardworking US climate scientists can still participate in AR7 by being nominated through observer organisations.

Participation costs more than travel though! An IPCC lead author role is estimated as a 50% FTE* effort for three years!

*Full Time Equivalent

The IPCC has three working groups, each of which is powered by a small core “Technical Support Unit” (or TSU). The US now withdrawn its support for the “mitigation” TSU.

The rest of the world will need to step up and keep the IPCC AR7 train on the tracks!
