As a disbeliever in any thinness between veils, I like seeing authors find ways to bring ghosts into our world. Is it gas? Is it madness? Is it time travel? Is it an inter-dimensional insect infestation?

I write fiction as Mark Guyer and nonfiction as Dustin Pinney. I will soon be living in Corning, NY. I like horror with depth and lots of jokes. I arrive here in a tattered Goonies shirt and black jeans that I keep forgetting about.

A lonely spirit with depression: abandoned places that should bring joy — theater, cinema, an empty town.

Scary ghosts: Marching down Main Street, big as a house and hungry.

I write fantasy novels and horror short stories (as of now at least).
My horror is a mixed back of genres. I like to play with nature, folklore, and just a hint of dark humor (I'm Danish after all).

I'm on the couch in my PJ's, hoping to stay awake until 9pm..

Ghosts are like cats and haunt wherever they please. I prefer to find them in ancient ruins, gloomy streets and hidden alleys. Or anywhere good chocolate is sold. #horrorwriterschat

I use a lot of villages, so I often wonder if my strain would be considered folk horror. There’s a lot of cosmic comeuppance and justice debuted themes thinking back on it.

I prefer the spirits of the folkloric variety because you can learn so much history from them.

Fun fact: a ghost in Iceland is typically a draugr or afturganga, meaning walking again. They're more of the zombie variety but still have their minds intact and often seek revenge.

As much as I love unique ghost designs by authors, I love ghost folktales even more. They have so much history in them, especially between generations. So much can be told about a community by simply how they're treating the (dis)honoured dead.
