I'm 3 days shy of hitting 14 months w/out. Yesterday I learned that another person I was in rehab with has died. That's the 3rd person I was in rehab with who has died in the past 2 months. Addiction and winter and fascism is a lot to handle. I do not want to go to work today. I do not. But I must.

We gathered in Mankato last night for a community sing. Over 150 of us came together to learn new protest songs, and joyfully sing familiar songs, too

One great thing about my life is that I have the joyful task of helping young adults navigate obstacles so they can keep going. It really is so so good some days.

Whittier was my home for more than 10% of my life. I lived on 26th and Garfield for over 5 years. I can barely think today. But I have students to serve and care for and be a role model to, to show that they can't get us down. That we will win. Minneapolis is my home, my coming-of-age city.

We've had state violence and cops murdering people here quite regularly. Cops were shooting teargas at us after Jamar Clark, Philando Castile, Justine Diamond, George Floyd (while we were burning down the 3rd and 4th precinct buildings). It's been a fucked-up 10 years in Minneapolis (It's the cops)!
