Canadian destination of the day: Burnaby Lake park, BC, where I recently discovered a Sandhill Crane visiting the ducks and geese.

Another great Canadian destination- this one for birders! Reifel Bird Sanctuary has marshlands and more, and attracts many unusual birds. The Sandhill Cranes are a favourite!

We have seeds for sale at our farm gate. We were Western Canada's first seed company. We have been growing, saving, and selling locally adapted, organic, vegetable seeds since 1888. Steveston Stock and Seed Farm, 2871 Steveston Highway, by the west dyke.

Today’s great Canadian destination is Stanley Park, adjacent to the downtown core of Vancouver, BC. While walking the Seawall on Saturday we spotted a pair of Biggs orcas (probably following the sea mammals preying on the herring run), and nesting Great Blue Herons. A wonderful day!

Today’s Canadian vacation destination is Elfin Lakes, Garibaldi Provincial Park, BC. A beautiful reward for a straightforward hike, with hut and tenting options available (reservations required).

Canadian vacation destination of the day: North Coast Trail, near Cape Scott, Vancouver Island, BC. Water taxi in and hike out along beaches and through the forest. Simply astounding.

An amazing Canadian vacation destination: Liard River Hot Springs Provincial Park in northern BC. A hot upper pool and a cooler lower pool - just watch out for the horseflies!
