a newspaper headline about the RCN report
Thread/
Today, a devastating report from the @rcn.org.uk, based on the testimony of over 5000 NHS nurses, has rightly catapulted the national shame that is NHS 'corridor care' into the headlines once more. (1/15)

There is a lot wrong with this country after years of Tory?LibDem austerity β¦ I donβt think more austerity is in anyoneβs interest. (Unless youβre super rich).

We should be organising a march to Parliament about this. That and the fact that the registered nurse role has been eroded and replaced with cheaper, exploited staff. Itβs wrong.

The only reason the private sector has any spare capacity (it is never cost effective to run at spare capacity) is because they have been promised NHS contracts.
Why not fix NHS pay and bring that capacity back in house?
Better for patients. Better for NHS staff. Better for the tax payer.

The private sector aren't 'helping out' the NHS
They're profiting of it's crisis, whilst leaching valuable resources away from the NHS.

Nursing is an incredible and rewarding career. The government must support recruitment to ensure nursing shortages do not continue.
Our calls for a loan forgiveness scheme for nursing graduates who commit to working in public services is gaining more support each day. Read more β¬οΈ

In the week that MPs vote on assisted dying, please - please - can we all agree & act on the fact that the time to end the woeful underfunding of NHS palliative care is now?
If we truly cared about dying people, we wouldnβt neglect their final days.

MUST scores in the palliative care context. Do they tell us anything we donβt already know and what is the appropriate response? Will repeated weights cause more anxiety for the pt & family?
Iβd love to hear some views please π

Yes, exactly! But we have also allowed ourselves to be devalued by allowing a cheaper, less qualified, workforce to take parts of our role.
We should be providing most aspects of care in order to properly assess & monitor our pts. Not sitting at a computer writing plans of care that nobody reads.

I no longer work in the NHS. After over 30 years of nursing, Iβm a Band 5 working for a charity, having been a Band 6 and 7 in the past.
We are better staffed than the NHS, I believe. I look after 3-5 pts each shift. However, unfortunately, nursing is desperately undervalued. How will that change?
