Ehr. No. Wargaming is mainly dominated by anglophones and English historiography is much more concerned with England than the continent. The period of the 5th-8th century is much better attested in continental Europe than on the British Isles. Yet there's a plethora of wargames centred in England.

French tank markings for 1940 are an interesting topic. A whole rollercoaster ride of questions uncertainty and desperation. There are these books that give you very definite answers and then you find out about the amount of fantasy involved and how messy the reality on the ground was.
